I've had a recent influx of followers so I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself! Hi! My name is Gaia and I am a jewellery artist living in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Electroforming is my main medium, which is a process of entombing foraged treasures within metal to immortalise them into amulets πŸ–€ I have always made jewellery ever since I was young, from daisy chains when I was a little girl, to friendship bracelets in my early teen years, to bead work later in highschool, macrame jewellery in my twenties, and eventually electroforming in the past five years. I've always adored jewellery as a form of expression, which is something I am thankful to my mother for, who would always (and still does!) wear beautiful, unique jewellery that had special sentiment and significance. I love that jewellery allows us to wear something to express parts of our inner world, and how it can be a means of always having something that we treasure close to us. It can connect us to a place, a memory, a loved one, an idea, a story, and so much more.Β Β Β  I've always loved foraging and began collecting treasures from the earth from as far back as I can remember. When I discovered electroforming I completely fell in love with the process because it combines two of the things I love most: foraging, and creating! It felt like the perfect way to turn some of the treasures I had collected over my life into wearable talismans.Β  I love finding ways to connect to and celebrate the magick of the earth. I have always loved & been inspired by symbolism, fantasy and folklore, I am also fascinated with ritual, and death and life cycles. My art is also a way of connecting to the old ways, during a time when our ancestors lived in close harmony with the land. The ethics of my practice are deeply important to me, I never harm any creature, great or small, to create my jewellery. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my creations come to life when you wear them, I love seeing my amulets find their way into the world and become part of your story, so the deepest, most heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me on my creative journey so far πŸ–€ With all my love, Gaia xxx by @wild.incantations

I have been saving a lot of the unique insects I have found over the past year for the national @insectexpo and it was so worth it! Such a wonderful event and I can't wait to go back next year! It's always a joy to connect with people and markets and events, thank you to all those who showed an interest in my process! It always makes me smile so much when people realise the real insect is preserved in the metal and I can see their mind being blown! It makes me happy because this is exactly why I first fell in love with this process, because I think it's truly amazing, so thank you for your appreciation and sense of wonder πŸ₯° #oddity #insects #entomology #gothjewelry #electroforming by @wild.incantations
Can't get enough of the stunning shapes of these cicadas! I was asked at the insect expo what my favourite insect is and I have to say it's a cicada! Most of these gorgeous cicadas I have used in my jewellery over the past year were collected for me by my best gal @_charlotte.may , who called me one day when she was in Halls Gap and exclaimed that there were dead cicadas everywhere and she went on an epic collecting mission for me! I don't know what I would do without all of my amazing friends who collect beautiful things for me to turn into jewellery! This one found its home at the insect expo but I still do have a few cicadas left so watch this space, I'll be making a few more for the upcoming markets! πŸ–€ xx #fairycore #oddity #insectjewelry #fairystyle #cottagecorefashion by @wild.incantations
The creature of origin for this wing was a mystery to me, and I had some wonderful folks at the @insectexpo helping me to identify it! In the end we are still undecided if it is a moth of the Hepialidae or Cossidae family - some things are a mystery and that's okay! This is one of the largest and most beautiful moth wings I've ever seen, collected in Healesville by my wonderful gal @_charlotte.may πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€ This piece is still available! #electroforming #insectwing #entomology #insects #moths by @wild.incantations
This longhorn beetle was so much fun to work with, I've never had any longhorn beetle specimens previously but was fortunate enough to be gifted two that I got to bring to the expo! This one has found its home, but I do still have another one available that will be coming with me to @boofest.au in just a couple of weeks! πŸ–€ #electroformedjewellery #electroforming #insectjewelry by @wild.incantations
Another amulet that found its new home at the insect expo last weekend! This dragonfly specimen was absolutely stunning and it deserved to be turned into something epic! I have lots more buggos and bones and leaves to share with you at @boofest.au after dark in a couple of weeks - watch this space! #electroformedjewellery #insectjewelry #gothicfashion #gothjewelry by @wild.incantations
