Finally, some good news in the world of nutrition. 🥜🍫💪

Sending this to everyone who has ever questioned my snack choices. 😂

I refuse to accept that dahlia season is over. So….a little frostbite, a little crispy around the edges, but somehow still gorgeous. 😂🥀

Apparently my toxic trait is finding beauty in dead flowers and refusing to accept that dahlia season is over.

Anyone else still admiring their frostbitten dahlias? 😂

And just like that, the 2026 flower season is over. 🥹🌸 (don’t worry. There’s still SOOOO much to do before winter!)

The frost has come, the blooms are fading, and I’m feeling a little more emotional about it than I expected.

I spent so many hours in this garden. Planting, watering, weeding, worrying, waiting, and watching tiny seeds turn into something so beautiful.

Somewhere along the way, this garden became so much more than a place to grow flowers. It became my happy place. My quiet moments. My therapy. A place where I could slow down, get my hands dirty, and find joy in the simplest things.

I’m so grateful for every single bloom, every lesson learned, every bouquet gathered, and even the things that didn’t go as planned.

It’s hard to say goodbye to something that brought me so much happiness.

Thank you, 2026 garden. You were everything I needed and more. 🤍

Until next spring. 🌱

If you’re planning next year’s flower garden, these unique beauties deserve a spot on your seed list!

🌸 1. Easy to grow from seed! Perfect for beginners and experienced gardeners alike. They’re low-maintenance and thrive in full sun!

🌸 2. Unique, seashell-shaped petals! Their delicate, tubular petals curl into little seashell shapes, making them stand out from traditional cosmos.

🌸 3. The more you cut, the more they bloom! Regular harvesting and deadheading encourage more flowers throughout the season.

🌸 4. Pollinator friendly! Bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects love visiting their open centers!

🌸 5. Perfect for cut flowers! Their long, airy stems and whimsical blooms add beautiful texture and movement to bouquets.

Bonus: They’re easy to save seeds from, and you may even get volunteer plants the following year!

I’m definitely making room for more of these next season! 🌸

Have you grown Sea Shell cosmos before, or are they going on your seed list for next year?

🎃🐓 Before you toss those pumpkin scraps after carving your jack-o’-lanterns, save them for your chickens!

Did you know that the stringy pulp and seeds inside your pumpkins can actually be a nutritious treat for your backyard flock?

Here’s why I save them for my girls! 👇

🎃 Rich in nutrients: Pumpkin contains beta-carotene, which chickens convert into vitamin A to support healthy vision, skin, and immune function.

🌱 Nutritious seeds: Pumpkin seeds contain protein, healthy fats, and minerals. Despite what you may have heard, they aren’t a proven natural dewormer!

🐓 Natural enrichment: Chickens are born to scratch, peck, and forage! Digging through pumpkin scraps encourages these natural behaviors and helps prevent boredom.

💧 Hydration: Pumpkin contains lots of water, providing a little extra hydration.

♻️ Less waste: Instead of tossing those pumpkin scraps in the trash, you’re turning kitchen waste into a treat your flock will love!

A few things to remember: Only offer fresh, unspoiled pumpkin without paint or candle wax. Pumpkin should be an occasional treat, not a replacement for balanced chicken feed.

Who knew Halloween leftovers could make five little hens so happy? 🎃🧡

Do your chickens love pumpkin as much as mine?

Because diet culture has ruined our brains into thinking it’s all or nothing. And it’s not. Who’s with me!!?

This is Strawberries n’ Cream, and she’s a perfect example of why dahlias are so fascinating!

Dahlias can show variations in color and pattern, sometimes producing blooms that look nothing alike on the very same plant. This can happen because of genetic changes in the flower’s color-producing cells, often called sporting.

Just another reason I’m completely obsessed with growing dahlias. 🤍🩷

Have you ever had a dahlia surprise you like this?

Spooky season has officially gotten out of hand. 😂 Apparently my friends think my flower garden needed a little Halloween surprise. I just wanted to tend to my dahlias in peace. 💀🌸

Ethel’s been looking for her patience since 1973. 😂🍂

But seriously, a pile of fall leaves is one of the easiest ways to keep backyard chickens entertained! Scratching and foraging are natural behaviors, and leaves give them plenty to investigate.
