My newest obsession next to climbing tress is searching for Oak Galls~

These were balls are the homes to oak gall wasp babies. The ones with holes in them are empty and safe to pick for making ink. Been wanting to find these ever since I watched the Secret of Kells!! But boy little did I know how fun these are to harvest. It’s a little mini game where you first have to spot an oak tree with Oak galls and then you need to find the Oak Galls in the tree and additionally you need to spot the ones with the little hole in them. And when you do… It’s OH SO SATISFYING!!

Made some trinkets out of my treasure trove of bibs and bobs. There’s been this idea around making art from found things that’s been boiling within me ever since I picked up a beautiful crab shell at the beach. It probably links to my foragers brain. Spot small interesting thing take small interesting thing use small interesting thing. by @wild_narrative

Always so amazed at how our brain picks on all the little details to help us identify things. I usually do a sketch of a plant to really understand it before attempting to make an accurate stylised model of the plant.

Today’s model is the dear meadowsweet which has been the highlight of my summer.
