Whilst hiking in South Africa, I came across a Cape cobra - an encounter that felt oddly symbolic. After all, 2025 was the Year of the Snake: a year associated with renewal and a turning point in embracing change and focusing on wellbeing and self-improvement.

This year bought many changes in my life. I left the corporate world and a city I had called home for over a decade, embracing a new direction and working remotely. It also brought my most demanding ultra to date, involving six weeks training in the Swiss Alps in the lead-up.

Above all, the most meaningful part of the year was returning to writing, photography, reading, spending quality time with family and friends, becoming a godmother and meeting some amazing people along the way.

The remote way of life really is the most rewarding.
