We are delighted to announce that there will drawing session on the 29th of August. @floorlengthfrankie will be using the masks from the exhibition to create striking images of the Wilde Volk. Here is @floorlengthfrankie modelling the Dracule mask from the Romanian Mumming tradition, just to get your creative juices rolling! Dracule is made by Beth Neame @beth.is.creating one of our key exhibitors. Wilde Volk will be on 6th _30th August @inalandcreative more details to follow . #wildevolk #drawing #hebdonbridge by @wilde_volk
It will be a dark honour to summon Yorkshire’s very own Krampus Whitby Run to the Wilde Volk Exhibition this coming August. From the gates of Whitby Abbey to the Pack Horse Bridge, these Krampusse come, stamping iron-shod hooves and cracking their whips, to bring a taste of Alpine terror to the folk of Hebden Bridge. Naughty children and untamed adults alike will not go unpunished! We are delighted to welcome WKR members Coz, Jason, and Neil, who will also be unveiling their hand-carved Krampus masks. These skilled carvers have honed their craft under the watchful eyes of masters Lukas Österreich and Josef Schiffmann at the Geisler Moroder School, where wood is carved into nightmares. To deepen the atmosphere, Elaine Edmunds will be enchanting us with her mythical beasts. Be there… if you dare. Wilde Volk In a Land Gallery 8th August – 30th August 2026 Opening times: Thursdays: 1–5:30 pm Fridays: 1–5:30 pm Saturdays: 12–4 pm Workshops to be announced #krampus #hebden #wildevolk #folklore by @wilde_volk
Very pleased to announce a new Wilde Volk installation at In a Land Gallery in Hebden Bridge 6th August to 30th August. Wilde Volk is a celebration of European masked festivals through photography, art and sound. We welcome @whitbykrampusrun who will show casing handmade Krampus masks + magical creatures! We are super delighted to welcome @wrenfolkceramics, @woodyfoxwillow , @class_si_fied plus many more. One of the first horned festivals that @kerryboettcher1 and I will be showing is Perchtenlauf. This festival takes place in the Austrian Tyrolean region and we love it! Thank you to @julianwentz for your continuous guidance👹. Also thank you to @ringmodulator for the excellent Perchten sound track taken from our field recordings. #WildeVolk, #folklore #perchtenlauf #ritual by @wilde_volk
Wonderful day making weirdy strange masks with @jogoddardartist . The masks were made using a Romanian technique and I think we did a great job! Jo is a fantastic teacher and even though she instructed me well, I have stabbed my hands to bits and glued my fingers together! #wildevolk #folklore #masks by @wilde_volk
The nights are getting longer and darker! So if you’re not busy next Wednesday, you are cordially invited to come and learn more about the Wilde Volk rites in Southern Germany / Tyrol region 👹💢🖤 More info below! **Join us for an evening with Sooxanne, co-founder of the Wilde Volk Project, as she explores three fascinating Alpine winter traditions: the Krampuslauf, Buttnmandl & Kramperl, and Perchtenlauf. Through stories, photos, and personal experience, she examines how these living rituals connect communities to transformation, belonging, and the wild spaces of the imagination. We’ll begin with introductions and a short grounding, followed by the talk, discussion, and plenty of time for questions. All are welcome. **Brock (British Reclaiming Online Conversations)** hosts monthly online talks, discussions, and socials inspired by Reclaiming Witchcraft and related topics. Come join me next month to do some wild mask making. Link in bio - being held in Falmer on 17th Oct. We will be using felting techniques, mixing vintage fabrics, yarns and notions on a lightweight base. Bring your ideas: think animal spirits, mumming rituals and old folk customs. Last month I did some wonderful workshops at the @inalandcreative gallery in Hebden Bridge. The workshops were running alongside the @wilde_volk exhibition, which included the really wild costumes and artworks of the @whitbykrampusrun, it was a really inspiring event. Fantastic afternoon facilitating the Wilde Volk life drawing session yesterday. Our life model Mary posed with @beth.is.creating incredible Mumming masks called Dracule & Sarah Neamt. It was wonderful to see all the beautiful drawings! #wilde_volk #lifedrawings #creating #masks by @wilde_volk

I want to tell you about my fellow art collaborator Suzanne Rolfe who has been really going for it. @sooxanne23 She visits Romania, Austria, and other countries each winter to witness and document the folk customs. Its something close to my heart as I love all things fiery and folkloric. Her @wilde_volk exhibitions at Rottingdean Windmill, the Mint House Pevensey and now @inalandcreative gallery in Hebden Bridge have brought together photos, videos and most importantly artists responses to the living folklore she documents. Her Wildevolk exhibitions are always different but similar, and somehow both dark and bright. So brilliant to see all the generations taking part in the rituals and customs. Im really excited by what Suzanne has achieved so far and can't wait to see whats happening next. She is up in Hebden Bridge organising the finale of the show with the totally awesome @whitbykrampusrun on 30th Aug, St George's square in Hebden Bridge at 2pm. Wish I could be there! Do visit the exhibition, its brilliant! by @wilde_volk
