This male Kestrel lived at least 7 years in our area. The average life of such a bird is 5 years. I miss seeing him hunting over the beach sand dunes. This is one of the last images of him September 2024. Note the grasshopper leg on his shoulder. by @wildedition

What a privilege to have a day with Bill Oddie at League Against Cruel Sports reserve in Exmoor. One of my hare images won their photo contest in 2019. He was such a joyous personality with a profound love of nature. Bill is imitating a hare in the photo. @wildedition won in the Nature‘s Studio category in the @gdt.ewpy 2025 with her image "Fiery Takeoff“.

In winter, the sun sets low over the sea and casts a rich, warm light. As the tide rolled in bringing fish and seaweed, the seabirds began flying around excitedly. Drawn by the commotion, I followed the gulls into the surf. To convey the scene’s energy, I opted for a slow shutter speed, allowing motion and atmosphere to merge. Standing behind a black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus), I captured its take-off with the sunlight illuminating its feet and outstretched wings, and captured its takeoff, wings and feet aglow in the last light of day.

In den Wintermonaten bleibt das Licht der untergehenden Sonne über dem Meer lange am Horizont. Als die Flut hereinrollte, brachte sie Fische und Seetang mit sich, was bei den Seevögeln für einige Aufregung sorgte. Angezogen von dem Tumult folgte ich den Möwen ins Wasser. Um die Energie der Szene einzufangen, wählte ich eine lange Verschlusszeit, damit Bewegung und Atmosphäre dem Moment etwas Dramatik und Ästhetik verleihen. Ich stellte mich hinter eine Lachmöwe (Larus ridibundus) und hielt ihren Abflug im Bild fest, während das Sonnenlicht ihre Füße und die ausgebreiteten Flügel beleuchtete.
