it feels weird to post self expression on social media these days. i often hold back, thinking, who am i to enjoy beauty in life while so many others in my very own country are living with unimaginable fear, grief, or worse? it is profoundly unfair. and still…some part of me feels that it is good to share individual joy where we find it, so that we can remind each other of what we’re capable of, or perhaps offer each other threads of hope, a vision of a world where we are all safe to express ourselves. but is that a selfish notion? it is surely a privileged one. i want to know how best to cope with the reality of the circumstances; how to resist and fight for others even beyond my current capacity and means; how to nurture my own community on the basis of care, inclusivity, and self expression, without being tone deaf or insensitive. i feel im in a position of walking a line between it all. my hope is by engaging in my own life’s beauty i can gain more energy, skills and resources to help the people around me. but does it do anything to share it with you? i would welcome any feedback about this. much love 🫶🏻 by @wilderlyss
