Kids being kids at playtime. Two juvenile Peregrine Falcon playing tag over Pacific Ocean. All these are necessary hunting and survival skills. Diving down with full speed to quick maneuver and dodging. It’s incredibly amazing to see how they got that in their gene. Nature never stops finding new ways to leave me speechless.I witnessed something I’d only ever dreamed of seeing a peregrine falcon mother making a mid-air food transfer to her young. High above the landscape, she appeared carrying prey at breathtaking speed. Then, as if choreographed by nature itself, the juvenile folded its wings, accelerated toward her, and in a split second reached out with its talons to snatch the meal cleanly from the air.The entire exchange lasted only a heartbeat, but it showcased generations of instinct, trust, and precision. This isn’t just feeding—it’s flight school. Every aerial handoff is a lesson, preparing the young falcon for the day it must hunt at speeds exceeding 200 mph on its own.Moments like these are why I keep returning to the wild. Sometime playtime can get bit too rough with this Juvenile Peregrine Falcons. One the Juvi accidentally grabbed it’s siblings wings instead of talon. This play is also a hunting skill which will help them bring back their hunt. This lasted few seconds and finally it let go. Other sibling didn’t panic, stayed focused and played it cool.
