There’s a moment right before a tiger disappears into dry grass when it stops to look back — not out of fear, but permission. Samrat gave us that moment at Bandhavgarh, tongue mid-lick, eyes locked on the lens, utterly unbothered by being seen. In a forest built on staying hidden, there’s something profound about an apex predator who doesn’t need to hide. Some presence doesn’t ask to be noticed. It simply is, and the world adjusts around it.

Not a villain. A cleanup crew with excellent PR problems. He’s not snarling at the camera out of malice — that’s just what finishing a meal looks like when nothing’s coming to take it from you. Efficiency isn’t ugly. It just isn’t pretty either.
