When night falls, darkness comes out to play, and what you encounter on safari after sunset can sometimes be even more fascinating than what you see during the day. 🦁 by @wildlifeofsa

Sunrise special

Catching these lions coming out of the river at first light gave the perfect backlit glow. A fantastic way to start the day

The eyes of an ancient survivor. 🐊🤎

Beneath the calm surface, a Nile crocodile glides effortlessly through the water, carrying millions of years of history in a body perfectly built for survival.

There’s something almost humbling about seeing one this close. The rugged scales, the golden eye catching the afternoon light and the way most of its body disappears beneath the water. It reminds you that what you see is only a small part of what’s there.

We often associate power with movement, noise and displays of strength. But out here, power can look like stillness. Patience. A watchful eye just above the surface.

A Nile crocodile’s eyes, ears and nostrils are positioned on top of its head, allowing it to see, hear and breathe while keeping almost its entire body hidden beneath the water. A remarkable adaptation that makes it such an effective ambush predator. Nature really does have a way of perfecting the art of survival.

And perhaps that’s part of what makes the bush so fascinating. Even in its quietest moments, there’s always more happening than meets the eye.

Spotted at first light or on an evening drive, hyenas are always an interesting sight. Often misunderstood, they play an important role in the bush by cleaning up carcasses and keeping the ecosystem in balance.

Early morning breakfast run

The dry season is coming to a close and we're on the verge of a changing colour pallet for the bush.

Golden skies or blue skies, the colour hardly matters. What stands out is the beauty of the cheetah, its striking coat, intricate patterns, and those captivating eyes that hold an almost everlasting eye contact. 🐾

Thunderbirds taking to the sky

Southern Ground Hornbill spend the majority of their time on the ground foraging, but they are equally graceful once they take flight to cover larger distances or avoid predators

Seeing these birds soar past is always a memorable moment by @wildlifeofsa

A great morning out with the Wild Dogs on the run. It’s been amazing to have them back on the reserve and always a treat to be able to spend some time with them.

A bit more than a mouthfull

Spent a long time watching this Roller try and figure out its next move after it realized this frog wouldn't go down as easily as planned.

Never actually saw if it managed to wolf it down or decided to abandon and start again. by @wildlifeofsa
