Alone, injured, and fighting to survive, this sloth bear cub was found in the wild without her mother. Rescued by the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department from the forests of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, she was brought to the Wildlife SOS Van Vihar Bear Rescue Facility, located inside Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal, for urgent treatment and rehabilitation.

Sloth bear cubs are entirely dependent on their mothers for protection and to learn essential survival skills, from foraging and navigating the forest to recognising potential threats. Separated from her mother so early in life, this little cub faced overwhelming odds.

Yet, even after everything she has endured, her spirit remains unbroken. Her bright, curious eyes and quiet determination inspired us to name her Luna.

Today, Luna is receiving round the clock veterinary care, a nourishing diet, and the specialised care she needs to recover. Every day is critical as she heals, regains her strength, and learns to trust again.

Veer inspires us every day.

His walk isn't perfect, but every step is his own. Not forced with chains or bullhooks, but because he chooses to take it.

Veer's mornings at our Elephant Conservation and Care Centre (ECCC) begin with a long walk alongside his caregiver, followed by his favourite treats, time in his pool, and plenty of rest. His days end with foraging through his favourite enrichments, beautiful evening walks along the Yamuna River, and his dedicated treatment routine.

The injuries Veer carries are a reminder of the years he spent being exploited. Today, our focus is on helping him stay comfortable through pain management, laser therapy, massage, hydrotherapy, joint-support supplements, soft mud beds, and regular veterinary care. Every part of his routine is designed to support his mobility and give him the best quality of life possible.

We may not be able to change Veer's past, but we can make sure every day of his future is filled with comfort, care, and compassion.

Gracie explores freely!

In her new home at our Agra Bear Rescue Facility (ABRF), Gracie jumps around with a newfound vigour and freedom. She is recovering well from her rope-removal surgery and is now subjected to proper nutrition through enrichments that also help with cognitive recovery.

As she continues to heal, we’re monitoring her improvement at every step and consistently providing crucial support for her physical and mental well-being. by @wildlifesos

Wildlife SOS is honoured to receive the FKCCI Global CSR & Sustainability Excellence Award 2026 in the Women Empowerment, Diversity & Inclusion category.

The award was accepted on behalf of Wildlife SOS by Geeta Seshamani, Co-founder & Secretary, and Rakhee Sharma, Senior Project Manager, Community Initiatives & Outreach.

For over three decades, we have worked alongside the Kalandar community to create sustainable livelihood opportunities that empower women, strengthen families and support wildlife conservation. More than 5,000 Kalandar women have been trained in handcrafted product making, while over 25,000 families have transitioned to alternative livelihoods.

Behind this award are thousands of women who embraced change with courage and built a better future for themselves and their families. We are proud to have walked alongside them on this journey. by @wildlifesos

Months of intelligence. One coordinated operation. Four arrests. Ten leopard skins seized.

Following months of intelligence gathering, surveillance and verification by Forest Watch, the Wildlife SOS Anti-Poaching Unit, a joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and Police led to the arrest of four accused and the seizure of ten leopard skins in one of India's largest leopard skin seizures in recent years.

This operation demonstrates what is possible when intelligence-driven conservation and strong inter-agency collaboration come together to dismantle organised wildlife trafficking networks.

Every leopard lost to poaching is an irreplaceable loss to India's forests, and every successful enforcement action is a step towards disrupting illegal wildlife trade. Wildlife SOS remains committed to this fight, continuing to provide intelligence support and legal assistance as investigations progress to identify and bring the wider trafficking network to justice. by @wildlifesos

Creating enriching spaces for rescued wildlife is a collective effort, made possible through the dedication of those who choose to contribute their time and skills.

We were delighted to welcome the @infosysinstep interns to our Bannerughatta Bear Rescue Centre, where they worked alongside our team to build hammocks for our resident sloth bears. Designed to provide comfort, encourage natural behaviours, and promote physical and mental well-being, these hammocks play a vital role in our bears' daily routine.

This World Snake Day, Wildlife SOS and the National Zoological Park, New Delhi, brought together young conservationists, zoo keepers, animal care staff, and zoo administration for a day of learning and discussion.

From exploring reptile management practices at the National Zoological Park's Reptile House to an interactive session on snakebite management, the focus remained the same: replacing fear with understanding.

The workshop explored India's snakes, the myths that surround them, and the legal protection these reptiles receive under Indian law.

Every session like this helps build awareness about these often misunderstood reptiles and the vital role they play in maintaining ecological balance. by @wildlifesos
