Do I support the Iranian people and the U.S. helping them to be free of the IRGC? Yes. What many people don’t realize is that there are over 5 million Iranians and over 8 million Jews in the diaspora. Shelby, my sweet 13yr old baby girl, crossed over the rainbow bridge 🌈 . Our hearts are broken. She was my light and my safe space. I can’t tell you how many times this sweet angel saved me during some of the toughest times of my life. She was the only unconditional love I’ve ever known and I feel honored to have received it. She was silly, so loving, so playful, and incredibly smart. Everyone that met her fell in love with her and some even said they were “Shelby fans.” Her sister Lauren loved Shelby deeply and as she says, “Shelby is the OG.” And Shelby loved Lauren so very much. Whenever Lauren was around, Shelby would do whatever she could to be near her. She even slept outside her bedroom door at night. She was so protective of Lauren and Lauren was the best sister. Shelby brought such joy into our home. We have so many memories of playing with her, throwing the ball and watching her feverishly run up and down stairs to catch it, and dressing her up for Halloween. And she was the most beautiful dog you’ve ever seen. Her eye lashes were legendary and you could get lost in her mounds of curly soft hair. And her “prance” or as one person called it - her “happy feet” made everyone smile. She was literally with me everyday since she was born. So to say she will be missed is a gross understatement. She also taught me so many life lessons, all of which have made me a better human. Shelby was also known as: Love muffin, love cake, Quelbiss, Shelbiss, love muffin supreme, bubba, little momma, and sweet girl. And her memory will forever be our blessing. I’ve been a writer/journalist for over 13 years. I’ve amplified marginalized voices/communities on my IG feed for almost a decade. I’ve spoken out for them, written published articles highlighting organizations & people, called congressmen, marched in protests, donated money, signed petitions, written messages of support, & so much more. Then 10/7 happened. On 10/8 & after these same people that I’ve amplified and stood beside have completely gone radio silent. It’s deafening. But I’ve decided to keep their posts up and their articles published. Why? Because it’s what the Jewish people do. We keep lifting up those who are marginalized - because we get it. We understand the harassment, the hate and the isolation. We are here to spread light and to make the world a better place. Tikkun Olam. 🇮🇱💪❤️. I have been an ally (and not performative) for so many people, causes & organizations in my almost 50 years on this planet. I hope those that I have supported throughout the years will join me as I advocate for my family & my Jewish community by putting a blue square in your feed to show solidarity - or use your platform to speak out against antisemitism. 🙏✡️ It’s not enough to stop antisemitism, but it’s a start. The attacks on Jews have risen 400% this past week and for a conflict thousands of miles away that we have no control over. Synagogue windows have been smashed in, Jewish men have been beaten in the middle of NYC & LA, businesses are being destroyed, calls for rape of Jewish women and daughters, firebombs thrown at Jews, Hitler flags being waved, Jews being targeted and spat on. It has to stop. Today I’d like to honor Debra Anne Haaland. She serves as the U.S. Representative from New Mexico's 1st congressional district since 2019.
