Hi my name is Ruby and this is your reminder to be unapologetically yourself.

I love shooting into the sun, I refuse to plan out my Instagram grid to make it aesthetically pleasing- I share photos & stories that I want to share.

Photography and journalism are my jobs but I try to work only 3/4 full time. Few people know this is my job because I book “word-of-mouth”.

Most of my work consists of me being mosquito bait while I wait for athletes or the perfect sunset.

Technically I’m an influencer but I don’t jive with that word. I NEVER want my account to grow so big that I can’t respond to the comments because I freaking love talking to you all and think of you as friends not followers.

I absolutely love my job and wouldn’t trade it for the world but I still occasionally doubt myself, just like every other creative.

This isn’t a technically perfect photo but I love it because I was happy in that moment.

So remember, share for yourself, love yourself, and don’t allow others to define how you should live your life. ♥️♥️♥️

This is pretty much going to be a Gaia fan page for the next few days because as of Friday, I will have been a mom for 16 years. 🤯 currently going through memory lane as I accept the fact that my husband and I have raised such a sweet human.

Rock climbing in Greece, of course she wasn’t scared at any point.

I don’t remember what was happening here. I think she was pretending to be upset to make the photo extra fun.

This girl loves animals so much.

Street cats are her favourite. This was also when she decided to cut her own hair for no reason at all so she had a fancy half bang haircut for Greece.

She also loves a good candy. Who doesn’t?

From when we car camped across Alaska. I can’t believe how easy it was with her even at 2 years old. It was just her and I, some tunes and the open road. We spent most of our days outside and I never once heard the phrase “I’m bored.”

The perfect Xmas tree.

She loves dirt biking but suspiciously breaks all our dirt bikes…

The overwater bungalows may have set her bar for vacations a little too high.

Oversized slippers are the perfect shoe for a dress.

Exploring around home is just as fun as in the woods.

The only photo I included of her friends due to privacy reasons. ☺️

She was an avid reader throughout elementary school. Now she reads textbooks instead.

Looking for dolphins.

She learned to free dive so young and still loves free diving.

She motivated Kyle and I up this giant rockslide for the last 2km of this 14km hike with goofy songs and encouragement. She makes us laugh on the daily.

Day two of looking through images for my new studio, and I was brought back to the Andean cloud forest, home to the Marvelous Spatuletail, an endangered hummingbird found nowhere else in the world. Often considered one of the most beautiful humminbirds, it was an absolute dream to see this cutie in real life. The blind was a short walk from Gocta Andes Lodge, and it was a reasonably priced excursion that reaped massive rewards. I 10/10 recommend for your next trip to Peru. by @wildlyruby

Looking back through old photos to print for my beautiful new studio (more to come on that soon) Anyway, cancel all plans, I need to get back to this place ASAP. Nothing compares to a French Polynesia trip. It's the only place besides Peru that we've returned to. And I think a 3rd trip should be on the horizon... by @wildlyruby

Among the top campsites I’ve stayed at. I usually avoid campground bathrooms like the plague but this place had one of the nicest bathrooms ever.

The river viewing deck is stunning, and all the sites are so private.

We stayed a couple nights here last summer and 10/10 would stay here again if we went back to the Bella Coola Valley.

Sometimes I miss the amenities of a larger centre, but then I remember that I live in one of the most beautiful places- not only geographically, but also culturally and community-wise. We almost operate like one large family. When one of us going through a difficult time, we all do our best to pitch in. Of course we have the typical quirks of any small town, but when it counts, we pull together. It's a beautiful thing. by @wildlyruby
