Really, I want to call this a study on imperfection and perceived poverty of material. I felt like I needed something; I couldn't afford it: I made something out of "Tuesday Gathering in the city", glue and hot glue. It's actually really shit but it's hard to do perfect woodwork when your materials are a blunt knife and cardboard and you're unsure of the sag spans of paper pulp and air and the tedium of a straight line is so fucking heavy.

I'd been watching itoshige studio make beautiful cardboard trinkets, mechanisms and boxes and had made several out of square, squished into studio corner's shelves and boxes. Most flat pack furniture now is made of the same materials albeit in a different configuration, a layer of stronger plastic printed wood grain veneer protecting you from the corrugated cardboard lattice giving strength, smaller mass and sense of material inferiority to the whole project.

and why should you have any faith in a material that people leave on the roadside to rot? Why should you spend some of your life working to make something that isn't perfect? Probably because it feels addictive to be an alchemist even in a small way, I understand that the popularity of such furniture capitalizes somewhat on this involvement, and so I am fond of cardboard. And not fully realising my points or interests. And leaving things in progress.

I've been using this for probably a couple months to store my clothes and unfortunately my room has remained periodically, a mess, not due to the inferiority of cardboard, or lack of love for it but my lack of fortitude for a routine that involves tidyness.

A terrible and brilliant thing is approaching. A few days ago I felt a weight shift inside me. It happened suddenly, without pause. The air, each footstep, the balance of my head - they all feel different now.

No, it's coming from behind my eyes - it's my own gaze that shifted. This is the kind of thing that ruptures you from the inside. What kind of thing is it? I want to be ready to grasp it.

Truthfully, there was never any forests. When all of the oxygen was depleted as a result of harvesting the planet of all useable materials for the next mission, we were all in the same frame of mind, the same reference. That there had not been any life in the first place, and that any attempt to record it as such was and is a failure of truth seeking scientific method. Bound by the laws of our social standing we, the people who understand all, who have found the ultimate dogma, and constructed all meaning bear witness today that all is wrong, and we have wrought it right with our transcript. by @wildprogeny
