Brisbane Hiring Insights | September

✔ Insurance & Claims remains active, particularly across Property Claims, IDR, Loss Adjusting and Assessing

✔ Health Insurance recruitment is moving, with demand across customer service, sales, retention and consulting

✔ Structured hiring intakes are appearing across Claims, Insurance and Contact Centres, with businesses recruiting multiple people at once rather than just replacing individual vacancies

✔ Insurance employers are widening their talent pools, with more businesses willing to train strong customer service and contact centre candidates into Claims and Insurance roles

✔ Hybrid is still important, but candidates are increasingly open to being back in the office for the right culture, opportunity and career progression

✔ Experienced candidates are actively interviewing, often across multiple opportunities at the same time

✔ We’re also seeing movement across senior Claims, Operations, Change, Transformation and Process Improvement

One thing September has made very clear: Good candidates are available - but not for long.

I’ve had candidates presented to businesses within hours, only for requirements to change or feedback to take a week. By that point, they’re already interviewing elsewhere.

We’re currently recruiting for two Property Claims Consultants and an IDR Specialist.

The Claims Consultant roles offer $80,000 - $85,000 + super, fully remote working, fortnightly pay and permanent benefits. You’ll manage Home and Property claims through to settlement, with ongoing mentoring and career progression.

The IDR Specialist role offers $90,000 - $110,000 + super and will manage escalated complaints from review through to resolution.

Previous Property Claims experience is essential for all roles.

One thing that hasn't changed throughout my recruitment career is how I treat the people I work with - like humans.

I'm not a recruiter who will push a candidate into taking a role just to get a placement across the line. Let's be honest, if the role isn't right for them, there's a good chance a couple of months later they're resigning and the client is recruiting for the same position again.

A big part of recruitment is helping people make decisions, not making those decisions for them.

I'm always there to give candidates honest advice, share what I know about the market and talk through the bigger picture of an opportunity.

With Emma, there was another opportunity on the table - a temporary state government role with a more attractive salary, but no guarantee of permanency, no clear progression and without the benefits that come with a permanent position.

Sometimes it's simply about educating candidates on where different career paths could lead, talking through the pros and cons, and then letting them make the decision that's right for them.

And I have to admit, this one took me a little longer than usual to find the right person!

But that's why you hire me. Sourcing, searching and speaking with hundreds of candidates until you find the right person for the role - not just the first available person.
