Because it was there.
I was lucky enough to grow up in a small town in CT at a time when there were more farms than subdivisions. A hundred acres of woods right outside our backdoor. No gates, no signs, no day passes. And no people.
That's where I connected to my monkey roots. ( we should never have left the trees. Life would be better with a prehensile tail!)
I climbed every tree i could.I had to check out the view.
I was able to see Sleeping Giant (a mt and state park) from half way up the giant pinetree. No one believed me when I said I could see it from our property until I showed them the tree.
I loved that mighty giant even though it was positioned at the very end of a narrow sled run. We would fly down the hill on our very flexible flyers avoiding hazards right and left.
I can't remember which one of us, maybe Burrington, he avoided the tree but had to bale or he would have ended up in Mill River. (More of a stream, really)
Anyway, all that preamble to tell you I made it to the roof of my house. The climb out the 2nd story window was a challenge. Atop Crow's Nest.

Im not a genius but I play a doctor on tv. Some will not get it. (Stupid t v commercial from the sixties). I turned a plastic flower pot over and made a zombie head or something. I'm not sure. Im Not a true genius. Maybe a baby genius or idiot savant, or just idiot? by @will.squieradogsbestfriend

The happiest place on earth. The Albany Bulb. I know a guy who spent thousands to go to Dismal Land, rented a van, spent a fortune for tickets and hotel. Just fucking crazy. You couldn't pay me to go there. This is free.
But you won't hear me sing Freeee Burt.
Who the hell is Burt anyway? Reynolds? Parks? Back-a-rack?
