2023…

What started out as a year full of promise quickly found itself to be one of the worst that I’ve ever had to endure for so many difficult reasons, not least of which, I found myself in an abusive relationship.

I was drugged to prevent me from fighting back against my abuser. I had food used as a weapon; my cell phone and basic necessities taken from me. I was followed to work and kept an eye on in case I tried to run away.

I found myself a victim of domestic violence.

I almost died.

Twice.

By the time I was able to break free, I found a world that had forgotten all about me. My boss of eleven years, my coworkers, even my friends, including those that said they were my ride or die, didn’t bother to look for me after being missing for a week. Nobody checked in to see if I was ok.

They all abandoned me.

I was faced with no job, no friends or support, and had to find a way to survive while also dealing with an immense amount of trauma and internal scars that may never go away.

I felt broken. I felt like through all this time I gave nothing but love; gave all of me and always did what was best for those I cared for, and yet they just threw me away. I felt like I didn’t belong.

I tried to kill myself.

Twice.

Through all of this, I now find myself sitting in bed, watching tv, like so many New Year’s Eves past, looking back at what this year has brought, or taken, and what my next steps may be.

I’m not sitting here sharing my story because I’m looking for sympathy or a hand out. The people whom I thought would care don’t, and quite frankly my life is better off without their bullshit excuse of “friendship”. And I’m not gonna sit here and explain why I took such a chance on some people when all I ever was looking for was love and acceptance. What I am doing, is admitting that for a long time I forgot I had a voice. I forgot who I was. And if sharing my pain and my journey can help even one person, then I made a difference… taken in Disney's Contemporary Resort by @will_rod

One thing I’ve learned over these many adventures is to not spend so much time looking back in fear or regret. What you should be doing is focusing on the fond memories of the amazing path you’ve taken so far in this world. Consider it the wind in your sails, propelling you forward to keep going and see what else is out there. It’s a crazy adventure, but my god am I ready for what’s in store.

What can I say except WOW!!!!! Monaco absolutely blew me away and I was only here for a brief amount of time. I will definitely be making a visit here again later this summer. It’s just simply breathtaking.

My first adventure of year 35 and it’s been quite a treat. Scaling one of the tallest active volcanoes in Europe, exploring beautiful ancient villages, and stunning sunsets on the high seas. I’m simply in awe 😍
