This is a @stagesnaps.jdlpictures appreciation post. JF Dufault is one of my favourite people to share a space with and what a pleasure it is to have him behind a camera as well. Here are a few pics from last weekend @calypsopark where @thegoodnorthband was playing. Thanks JF for these great shots and for hanging with us for the night! taken in Calypso Theme Waterpark by @willcookformusic

Beautiful night at Bluesfest! Angine de Poitrine set observations: 1. Both members had long polkadot air hoses running into their costumes to keep them from overheating. 2. They gave the camera people free rein over effects and angles and it bolstered the entertainment value even more. 3. Beyond live looping guitar and bass, Khn also loops some blips and bleeps through his built-in microphone and brings those loops in and out of the songs. 4. This might be the only band that will never bring any form of politics into their performances. Hell, they can’t even give you a head’s up that they’re playing their last song of the night! 5. Every single professional photographer has literally all the same photos of the band. No unique facial expressions to be captured. 6. I loved the show for the visuals and musicality but what I would have loved even more is to talk to all the perplexed Daisy Dukes who weren’t sure if they had come to the right place or not.

Lastly, Sheryl Crow and her band were incredible. It was my third time seeing that exact same collective of musicians and they’re amazing every time. Peter Stroud and Audley Freed are an incredible pairing of guitarists and I love their dynamic. by @willcookformusic

It has been a long time since I’ve had as much fun on stage as I did with the @kung_foofighterstribute last Friday. And that says a lot because I always have a great time on stage. This collective of musicians coupled with high-energy rock n’roll is a perfect pairing. Can hardly wait for the next one. Thanks to Melissa Ott for the great pics! Someone asked me if I was channeling Pat Smear up there with all the smiling I was doing. Nope, that was just me having a sweet f’ing time. by @willcookformusic

I haven’t gigged with this ‘81 Yamaha SBG 2000 in 20 years, but it has always been one of the best sounding guitars I own. The reason it doesn’t see much action…it weighs 11lbs. It’s the heaviest guitar I own thanks to its solid mahogany construction. Heavier than a Les Paul even. Last night I put a fresh set of strings on it and it’s going to be the lone wolf for the Kung Foo Fighters’ tribute show on Friday, May 8th at Overflow. Thanks to my pal @stephane.ippersiel for this sweet photo. by @willcookformusic

Mike, Andrew and I have been playing together for a while now and I couldn’t think of a better pair of lads to be making music with. Back at it tomorrow night in the same building where this pic was taken exactly three years ago @thelaffottawa by @willcookformusic
