🎓 Talladega College — More Than a College, It’s Family! ❤️💙

When I arrived on the historic campus of Talladega College in the fall of 1990, I immediately felt something special. There was a sense of family, belonging, pride, and purpose that I knew would forever be a part of my life.

More than 30 years later, many of the people I met during those unforgettable years are still a part of my life today. We came to Talladega as students, but we left connected by something much greater — a bond that turned classmates and friends into family.

Attending and graduating from Talladega College means so much more to me than earning a degree. Talladega helped shape the man I became. It taught me about excellence, perseverance, leadership, service, and the responsibility that comes with being part of a legacy that began long before any of us arrived on campus.

There is something powerful about knowing that you walked the same historic grounds as generations of men and women who came before you — people who believed in education, opportunity, progress, and making a difference in the world.

Talladega is more than a college. It is history. It is heritage. It is family. It is HOME.

And all these years later, I remain just as proud to say:

I came to Talladega. I graduated from Talladega. And I will forever be a proud Talladegan! 🎓❤️💙

Janelle, we’ve been rocking together for a LONG time! You’ve been my friend, my voice of reason, my sounding board, and my “let’s turn up” partner all rolled into one. 😂 Through the ups, the downs, the laughter, the crazy moments, and everything in between, you’ve always been SOLID—and that kind of friendship is priceless. 💯

I’m truly grateful for the years, the memories, and most importantly, the genuine friendship we’ve shared. Some friends become family, and you are definitely one of those people.

My heart was so full watching my sweet little niece, Melanie, praise dance. ❤️🙏🏾

There is something truly beautiful about watching a child use her gifts to give God glory. Every movement, every expression, and every step told a story of praise. She wasn’t just dancing—she was ministering through movement, and Uncle Willie was definitely one proud uncle! 🥹🙌🏾

Melanie, continue to let God use you. Keep dancing, keep praising, and keep allowing your beautiful spirit to shine. Watching you grow and develop your gift is such a blessing, and I pray that you always remember that your gift has purpose.

I’m in the Motor City attending the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Transit Board Members Conference, and I have to say—I’m genuinely impressed by what I’ve seen so far.

Taking time to tour the city has given me the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible growth, revitalization, and investment happening throughout Detroit. From the vibrant downtown to the renewed energy across the city, it’s exciting to see a community embracing its future while honoring its rich history.

As someone passionate about public transportation and community development, it’s inspiring to be surrounded by professionals from across the country who are working to improve mobility and strengthen the communities we serve.

Detroit, so far, so good! Looking forward to learning, networking, and bringing back ideas that can make a positive impact back home.

Had an opportunity to stop by the Lemonade Day Party, and one thing is for sure—it was HOT ASF outdoors, but the energy made it worth it! ☀️🍋🔥

A special shoutout to my cousin Faith Frazier and Russell McClinton for always doing their thing! You consistently put together events that bring great people, great music, and great vibes together. Birmingham definitely showed up, and the rooftop atmosphere was jumping all afternoon.

Definitely enjoyed the moment, and spent time with good people. Looking forward to the next one!
