🎉5 Years🎉

What an amazing adventure these five years have been. COVID wedding, a huge career change, globe trotting, building community, and of course our sweet Helen Melon.

🎉 Helen Frances Willetto is here! 🎉

Our sweet Helen-melon 🍉 joined our family last week. We're ecstatic and in love. Laura was so amazing and strong during delivery. Trey was an incredible coach and is taking great care of us both as we adjust to being a family of three.

We are so grateful to our family and friends who have supported us so well. ❤️

Un Més en México 🇲🇽 Week 4/5 highlights!
(We've been back for a bit, but are just slow at posting)

🌮 Taking a cooking class, where the chef took us to the market to shop, eat, learn about local ingredients before going to cook for the afternoon.
🪨 Tour of the ruins at Uxmal, a Mayan city south of Mérida with beautiful carvings and huge buildings recovered from the ancient city.
👻🧣 Seeing the Festival de las Animas, which means “Parade of Souls” and represents the journey of souls into the land of the living for Dia de los Muertos (Hanal Pixan in Maya). The parade route went right down our street — absolutely beautiful!
🪨 Trip to Chichén Itzá, one of the seven wonders of the world! Amazing Mayan ruins and history, preserved and restored.
🏞️ Swimming and cooling off in a cenote, one of the thousands of below-ground pools that are all over Yucatán!
🥂 Final celebration dinner in CDMX.

Un Més en México 🇲🇽 Week 3 highlights!
🟨Moving to Mérida, our home for the second half of the trip!
⛱️Relaxing at a fancy hacienda for two days, hanging out by the pool, birding, and treating ourselves.
💻Finding an awesome coworking spot to work from here!
🌶️Exploring the markets and plazas in the centro histórico.
🌮Seeing how local dishes and tortillas are made.
🚲Biking the biciruta.
🚶A walking tour of the Paseo Montejo.

Word of the week: Perder - This is the word for both to lose and to miss. As in "We missed our flight" or "I lost our only debit card". Both sentences I had to say this week. 😫💀 I hope Aeromexico enjoys the extra dough. And shout-out to Schwab for overnighting new cards for us.

👷🏼‍♀️Visiting Habitat for Humanity México!
🌮Eating at Expendio de Maíz, a top 50 restaurant without reservations. Dishes made of local ingredients keep coming until you are done. No choices, you eat whatever is being served that day! (@exp_maiz)
🍦Ice cream at Neveria Roxy, a ice cream shop that's been open since 1946! (@neveriaroxy)
💻Working remote from several more coffee shops!
Moving to and exploring the Condesa neighborhood.
🟦Frida Kahlo museum.
🍦Paletas in the park in Coyoacan.
🏙️360 views of the city from the top of Torre Latinoamericano.
🍹Drinks at a rooftop patio looking out over the Zócalo and Palacio National.
💀Día de Muertos painting and food at Tere’s house!

Watching Ballet Folclórico - an amazing performance of traditional Mexican song and dance - at Palacio de Bellas Artes. 💃
Lunch with Tere, a friend from Up With People.
Dinner at @esquinacomun, a “secret” restaurant on a rooftop patio! 🌮
Exploring Mercado de Sábado.
Canal tour at Xochimilco. 🎺

Word of the week 📚 - Alimentos: Food.
Now, you might think that “comida” is food, and it is. But alimentos is the catch-all for bites, snacks, meals…things to eat!
