The Impossible Shot?

The Challenge: Initially, I rigged up my 7-inch drone. On paper, it’s the logical choice for smooth, cinematic long-range lines. But in practice? It had too much weight an less acceleration.

The Pivot: To get the shot, I had to downsize. I swapped to a 5-inch fpv rig.

Less weight = Instant torque.

Higher power-to-weight ratio.

Snappier throttle response.

Check out the BTS and the final results.

We took on a milestone project at the iconic Wiscombe Park Hill-Climb, delivering the UK’s first ever authorised live FPV drone stream at a hill climb event. 🏁

Brought in as the specialist drone team for our very first live stream production, this job required three months of rigorous MSUK planning and tight, real-time coordination with the broadcast crew across two full days of racing. 🎥

Behind the scenes at this weekend’s shoot 🎞️

We required extensive rigging, mounting our @blackmagicnewsofficial G2s and various @gopro cameras across both airframes. Because the gear had to withstand speeds exceeding 200 mph, high G-forces during turns, and intense vibrations, there was absolutely zero room for error.

Myself and @ryanmartinfilm got creative with our setups, relying on magic arms securely locked down with an army of cable ties and jubilee clips. On the wings was slightly different, we had to replace some airframe screws with our GoPro mounts, again making sure this was rock solid. All cameras came back unharmed!

Big thanks to @exeter_airport and @xlrjetcentres for giving us access for the weekend and a special thanks to John Dodd and Nigel Reid at the @firebirds_displays for making this all possible! 🎥

BTS vs Final 🎬

Last summer in Bilbao, we captured a true story that crossed an ocean. From run & gun moments on the streets to the final frames.

A project that will be hitting film festivals for 2026 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇪🇸
