And because every drawing contains as much not drawing as drawing (if not much more), here is a video of that not.
I’ve held on to something I read about Matisse being surprised to see captured on film what was a kind of somatic scanning of his page he was about to draw on before he put pencil to paper. As if subconsciously marking out the field, practising the gestures before he carried them out ‘for real’.
The part of the rehearsal in the performance of drawing is becoming increasingly interesting. Not so much a nervous tic but bodily preparation. It amounts to a kind of dance perhaps. Elevating not necessarily the everyday but that seen as less important or something earlier in the stage of becoming.

Making the large wall drawing that is currently on show @exeterphoenixgallery as part of the Exeter Contemporary.
It feels vital that the work is completed in one go with no erasures or amendments. So that’s how it was, whilst @mattburrows3 and @erikac_art worked making decisions about the placement of the rest of the work I was very grateful to have been given the keys to the wall with complete trust and make the work. Hopefully the resulting drawing captures something of this nervous energy in the lines and gives a sense of a body moving in the space in order to have made them. by @william__luz

Some photos of ‘Display Homes’ by @elliot_coffin and myself from the @xordinarypeople Summer Camp show at @eprjcts.
Our collaboration has been remote through posting back drawings, materials and instructions back and forth in a call and response responseto ideas of the home, as somewhere to rest, be, make and spend time in, and what happens when this is problematised.

Myself and @elliot_coffin have a collaborative sculpture in ‘Summer Camp’ at @eprjcts opening this evening. We started working together during the @xordinarypeople Exchange programme. For ‘Display Houses’ Elliot made a large wooden frame in the form of a house which we filled with drawings and sketchbooks we have been sending back and forth. by @william__luz
