I wanted to show off a few more sounds with the Griffin Electric Guitar Co. ‘77 Custom before it makes the trip back to Texas. I sat down earlier this week and just started riffing, this track came together pretty quickly.

This ‘77 Custom is built using a lightweight One Piece African Mahogany Body, an African Mahogany Neck and Ebony fretboard. It’s sporting a pair of @fralinpickupsofficial Big Singles as well as @emersoncustom wiring, and tonepros hardware.

These can be custom ordered in different configurations so reach out to Griffin for pricing & details.

The Big Singles cover such a huge range of tones, The clean and lightly overdriven tones are great, but for me it really excels at higher gain levels. The bridge pickup cuts through so well.

For this video, I’m plugged into my new pedalboard and running into the @bensonamps Bellringer, mic’d up with the @royerlabs R-10 Hot Rod.

Fender & Joe Bonamassa have just released something for the Tweed fans out there.

This is the Joe Bonamassa 59’ Twin-Amp Tone Master. It’s a recreation of the legendary High Powered Tweed Twin and the tones are incredible. It nails all the vintage tweed tones you’d expect and really takes advantage of the Tone Master platform to deliver an incredibly versatile amp.

You’ve got a built in attenuator, effects loop, convolution spring reverb, direct out with built in cab sims. And thanks to the custom Celestion JB-85 Neo speakers, the whole 2x12 combo weighs in at only 30lbs.

I’ve put together a full demo for Fender, exploring all the tones and features, that will be going up on their socials over the weekend.

How do you run your Klon(e)?

Today we’re checking out the Warm Audio Mod Series Centavo. This is a new pedalboard friendly take on the mythical overdrive. The initial centavo release nailed the size and style of the original units, while the new Mod Series versions scales it down to a way more compact enclosure (while still maintaining the OG Aesthetic).

The circuit remains the same between both units and the tones here are exactly what I expected. It nails all the Klon tones and even has a nice midrange boost mod that can be turned on or off.

Control layout is simple, Gain, Treble and Output controls, all function as you would expect. It sounds great with the gain low running as a nice light boost (probably the most popular way people are using these), but I’m a big fan of the overdriven sounds you can get with the gain pushed. Especially with the mod switch engaged.

Thank you to Warm for sending this over.

Today we’re checking out the brand new Neck Brace MKII from Mask Audio Electronics. This three stage OTA based phaser has been overhauled and has some really cool new features that can be used to dial in a pretty wide range of phaser tones.

The LFO has been completely overhauled and extended, at its slowest it takes an almost painful 17 seconds to complete a full sweep, and at the upper range the speed has been pushed so far you can get into ring mod territory. This extended range is split up into 3 sections which can be accessed by the toggle switch. These are slow, fast, and ring mod.

You also now have the ability to ramp between speeds by holding down the footswitch. If the rate knob is below half, it will ramp up to maximum, and if it’s above, then the rate will ramp down to minimum. The speed of the ramping can also be adjusted internally.

The main control layout is nice and simple, you’ve got the rate knob to set the speed, and the three way toggle to select the speed range. And then you’ve got the mix knob, this lets you dial in the blend of the phaser with your dry signal and when it’s maxed out you can get some really nice phase/vibrato sounds.

Thank you to MAE for including me in your launch.

Warm Audio dropped three new pedals yesterday. Slimmer, more pedalboard friendly versions of the Centavo and the WA-C1 Chorus, as well as the Peach Fuzz Octave Fuzz released in collaboration with the Black Keys.

I posted my Peach Fuzz demo yesterday, which one do you want to hear next? by @williamjohnbennettiii

Which sound is your favorite?

Today we’re checking out the Peach Fuzz from Warm Audio, it was designed in collaboration with Dan Auerbach of the @theblackkeys to celebrate their latest release “Peaches”.

The Peach Fuzz is a vintage style 70’s Octave fuzz. They took the Warm Foxy Tone Box and adds a second footswitch to add the octave circuit into the mix, this can be configured as a latching or momentary switch. It’s built using NOS Fairchild 2N3565 Transistors, Germanium 1N34A Diodes, and to top it all off, the Peach Fuzz is covered in a velvety Peach Shag.

This pedal is based off one of my favorite fuzz circuits and it can cover a ton of ground. With the octave circuit off, it delivers massive sounding fuzz and drive tones. And with it engaged it’s a very strong, smooth octave effect that makes for a really unique lead tone. I love it with the neck pickup and the tone rolled off.

Thank you to Warm Audio for including me in this launch.

What’s your favorite delay pedal?

I’m a longtime fan of the @strymonengineering Timeline, it’s been a part of my gigging boards since I picked it up in 2013. It checks all the boxes for me, the sounds are great, the UI makes it easy to dial in, and it’s easy to use on stage bouncing between presets.

So when they released the new Timeline MX, I got very excited to check it out. You’ve now got the ability to combine algorithms and run any of them together in a dual delay setup. The new Oil and Drum delay modes sound great and nail some of my favorite delay tones.

The MX is going to be on my next board build and I’m looking forward to showing off some sounds soon. Let me know what you want to hear.

Which sound is your favorite?

Today we’re taking another look at the Eventide H9 Gen2. Back when I was demoing the larger H90 I said that the Three Sounds format was not really a good way to show off a pedal this versatile, but after making a couple of other videos with the new H9 I decided I’d put one together for it anyways.

For this one I wanted to talk about how useful the H9 can be as an inspiration machine. It’s got over 70 algorithms and can cover just about any effect you could want or need, but thanks to it’s huge list of factory presets and sounds you can just get lost playing through them and finding sounds and settings you otherwise might not have dialed in yourself.

I set out to just write this track using stock presets. I spent some time playing around until the choppy repeater like trem caught my ear, and pretty quickly came up with the main riff and outline of the track.

I went to the Undulator next because I’ve been really enjoying that Algorithm, I honestly can’t say I know what it does, but it sounds great and is a nice alternative to delays and reverbs for creating a cool atmosphere.

Lastly I landed on the Sticky Tape algo, because I was looking for something with a bit more saturation for the lead, there’s a nice subtle tape flange happening on this preset too that I think just sounds fantastic.

Which tele are you playing first?

Snapped a fresh pic of the Telecaster lineup, had to do an update after the arrival of the new Cabronita model. I’ve been playing it a ton the last couple weeks and it’s all over a new video I put together for Fender. Looking forward to sharing that in another couple weeks.
