On the @phillymayor 1,000th day in office, we broke ground on a more than $20 million investment in the heart of Kensington.

This investment didn't just happen, thanks to the work from Mayor Cherelle L. Parker , @councilmemberquetcy, @philly_mdo , @philaparkandrec , @impactservices , @freelibrary , @williampennfoundation , Senator Tina Tartaglione , @repgiral , the Mattleman Foundation, and all of the community leaders and groups who made this happen. by @williampennfoundation

Yesterday, we planted a tree at Lemon Hill Park, a small act today that will provide shade for the generations to come.

Together with @phillymayor , @williampennfoundation, @councilmemberjyoungjr, @mr4thdistrict, @philaparkandrec, @philly_mdo, and community members, we announced the launch of the Lemon Hill Legacy Project, an investment in transforming Lemon Hill from a hidden gem to a destination for Philadelphians and visitors alike.

From a new inclusive playground and improved recreational spaces to new trees, lighting, accessible pathways, and restored historic features, this project will build on Lemon Hill’s history while creating new opportunities for people to gather, play, and enjoy this incredible park.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to the community and partners who are helping shape the future of Lemon Hill.

Public space may be our greatest public good.

From parks to libraries, these places shape how we connect, grow, and show up for one another.

In the final Grounds for Expression essay, our very own Shawn McCaney reflects on why public space is essential to both everyday life and a healthy democracy.

Places like Schuylkill Banks create opportunities for people to cross paths, interact, and exist alongside one another—small but meaningful moments that help strengthen civic life.

In the latest Grounds for Expression essay, Peter Dobrin, Arts & Entertainment reporter for @phillyinquirer, reflects on how this trail has become one of Philadelphia’s great civic spaces, and why those points of connection are so important right now.

36 community members dedicated their time and expertise to this process, resulting in a Panel guided by trust, lived experience, and the knowledge that art and culture are inherent to our communities.

The Grant Review Peer Panel has defined PCF’s grantmaking process since the organization’s inception in 1991. THANK YOU to the panelists, the facilitators Nigel Charles, Andreana Barefield, and Ashley Feuer-Edwards, and the @williampennfoundation for making this process, and our vision for Philadelphia, possible.
