Two years ago, if you had told Willie he’d be spending so much of his free time on a pickleball court, he probably would’ve laughed.But somewhere along the way, it became more than just a game. It’s been his way to unwind after busy weeks, spend time with friends, and enjoy a little healthy competition.One of the perks of slow season? Having the freedom to combine two things he loves—pickleball and photography. Some people leave the game.Others take everything the game taught them and invest it into people.Spending time with former NFL linebacker turned motivational speaker Edgar Jones was a reminder that success isn’t always measured by what happens on the field. Sometimes the greatest impact begins after the final whistle.His passion for serving others, developing leaders, and encouraging people to become the best version of themselves has created a legacy that reaches far beyond football. One of the best parts of our Austin trip wasn’t on the itinerary.It was sitting on a boat, camera in hand, taking in the downtown skyline from the water and waiting to see some bats fly off from one of the bridges.No client. No shot list. No pressure to deliver.Just watching the light reflect off the buildings, looking for interesting angles, and capturing whatever caught our attention.As photographers, it’s easy to spend all of our time creating for work. Sometimes it’s good to leave work at work and remember that photography can simply be fun.A skyline, a boat ride, and a camera. Another successful conference in the books!We just wrapped up 2.5 days of photography coverage at the 2026 Virtuous Respond User Summit at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. From inspiring keynote speakers and engaging breakout sessions to sponsor-led exhibition booths packed with valuable insights, the Virtuous team created an incredible experience for their attendees.Events like these don’t happen by accident. Even in the slower seasons, we still make time to learn. One of the best ways we keep the creative juices flowing is by attending photography workshops, trying new techniques, and stepping into spaces that challenge us creatively. It reminds us why we fell in love with photography in the first place.When business slows down, it doesn’t always mean stop. Sometimes it’s an opportunity to grow, get inspired again, and come back refreshed with new energy and ideas for our clients.The truth is, creativity needs to be fed too. We never want to create from burnout or autopilot. Workshops, community, and continuing education help keep us energized, inspired, and excited every time we pick up the camera. The details matter. Corporate events don’t just happen.
