Had the opportunity to test the recent Emzoom Premium from @gac_australia around Sydney. This thing is loaded with features, it’s pretty impressive how far the automotive industry is coming with affordable cars like these fitted with such high end features. Thanks to the guys at GAC Parramatta for sorting me out!

My “on-the-go” Sony FX5 setup 🎥

Checkout how I rig my FX5 for travel and street shooting, using the full camera cage system from @tilta.

The FX5 has become my go-to video camera! The body itself is incredible, but keeping it light without sacrificing usability on the go is key for me. Building it out with this cage makes the workflow seamless and keeps my camera protected, whether that’s keeping the Big 6 menu clean while running a top monitor, or instantly stripping it down to fit back into a backpack.

Have you used a PM VNDII? 🎥🔍

If you are shooting video you need to be using a Variable ND filter, these are what allow you to continue shooting with a wide open aperture (f/1.4, f/2.8, etc) throughout the day. Or if you are capturing motion or moving subjects, this is what will allow you to best match the natural motion blur your eye sees. That is of course if you are shooting double the shutter speed your fps is (30fps = 1/60, 60fps = 1/120)!

first fog of ‘26 ☁️

Fog is something I’ve never really photographed before, at least not in Sydney. Now this is a bit late of a post, however it’s because a week after capturing this, Sydney has forecast an even more likely, more intense morning of fog. However after getting up to capture it at 3am it didn’t hit, it sat too high in comparison to this first set of pics above. But that made this set even more special.

Looking for frames in Tokyo 🗼

This one makes use of a few street photography techniques. We have a frame in a frame, created by the pillars which end up framing the subject that walks by. We further silhouette the subject through backlighting them which draws to a more moody, cinematic or leading impression.

I find when you look for scenes where you can combine a few techniques you can often draw a good photo from them. Let me know your thoughts.

first time photographing @sydney in fog ☁️

The speculation needed to time a fog photoshoot is crazy, this involved getting up well before sunrise and checking live cameras of Sydney harbour to make sure the fog had built up. But it was so worth it when I arrived to see thick fog covering the harbour.

The challenge with this shot 👇🏼

Since this is a tracking, panning shot and we are using a low shutter speed (1/20) it becomes tricky to time the camera movement with the train. I suggest photographing in landscape orientation if you’re new to a panning shots as it’ll give you more room in the composition and will ultimately be more forgiving. Otherwise lean into a “dutch tilt” which is what I did here.

Whenever I’m in an environment with long city streets this is a go to photo I look for, how do you use your telephoto lens?
