It was a joy to respectfully recreate this Utagawa Toyokuni I image for my long time client Nick. The original Edo period woodblock print is titled “Actor Seki Sanjûrô as an Echigo Lion Dancer, from the Series Dance of Seven Changes.” Please see the original in the last slide, the countenance and movement is captured so brilliantly.

Nick has a long lasting skin condition called psoriasis, we have worked together for several years and successfully tattooed around flare ups without issue. Thank you, Nick, for your continued support and enthusiasm for such fun projects, I appreciate you.

I would love to do more work like this, please email me if you’d like to set something up, williswinwin@gmail.com

Some lucky charms for my lovely shop-mate @luminous.wound 🎍 Soko's interest and trust and then patience to get this done was a real pleasure.. a much needed reminder that tattooing is fun and collaborative and meaningful but also ridiculous. This project looks small but took me many places, I hope these engimono bring you many blessings! taken in Icon Tattoo by @williswinwin
