Texas A&M’s Fish Camp: A Gateway to Community and Tradition

Texas A&M University’s Fish Camp, established in 1953, is a pivotal orientation program designed to help incoming students transition smoothly into university life. This multi-day summer camp, led by experienced upperclassmen known as Fish Camp counselors, serves as both a welcoming event and a foundational introduction to the Aggie community.

Fish Camp combines interactive activities, team-building exercises, and insights into Texas A&M’s traditions and values. The camp aims to foster friendships, provide practical information about campus life, and instill a sense of belonging among new students. Highlights include the “Class of 2028” ceremony, which officially integrates freshmen into the Aggie family.

The camp’s impact is significant, offering new students a supportive environment that eases the transition to college. By participating in Fish Camp, students not only gain confidence but also form lasting connections and become familiar with the university’s unique culture and resources.

Overall, Fish Camp exemplifies Texas A&M’s commitment to building a close-knit community and supporting student success. It remains a cherished tradition that plays a crucial role in shaping the Aggie experience. taken in Lakeview Methodist Conference Center by @willkuster_
