Think less, do more
When I asked wise belgium man, Dieter Selderslaughs, what impact he wishes to leave on an impressionable 21 year old he responded “think less, do more”
And with that I’ve been thinking less and doing more

On my month long backpacking trip I’ve been faced with some real fails.
- hearing back that I didn’t get the job I’ve waited 2 years for
- stopping my antidepressants due to developing chronic pruritis
- too depressed to leave my hotel in Shanghai
- traveling solo and struggling with loneliness
- thought about messaging my ex every day
- feeling like I was letting my family and friends down

With all that being said this has been one of the best trips I’ve ever been on

“Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were stronger” is a crazy David goggins quote in which he uses to promote his fitness influencer lifestyle. But when you think about it in a more broad sense, this quote can really help change your approach to your way of being

The happiest horses eat the grass under their feet

Anyway, this trip was meant to be the burning bush moment that gave me new direction in life and I can happily say it’s done exactly that

When I first saw the schedule of horse riding and mountain trekking it felt like a sisyphean task. As someone who has never ridden a horse before I was nervous the strain that 2 weeks straight would put on my body. Little did I know at the time I would also be battling gastro and altitude sickness. In addition, losing my sleeping medication supply meant I wasn’t sleeping at night either.

At times I didn’t feel connected to my body cos of how much pain and discomfort I was in

I wish I could say I didn’t give up. There were days where I simply couldn’t get on the horse anymore hahahah. That sounds like an idiom but it’s literal

Thank goodness for the people who kept me company and kept me going

I’ve never shared this much online, but I hope it’s deglorified instagram and its silly facade
