After a lot of practice and a whole lot of time spent on the river, I finally caught my first fish over 20 inches! 🎣🙌🏼

These are some of my favorite fish from this week, and I’m pretty proud of how far I’ve come. Fly fishing takes a TON of patience, practice, and there is SO much to learn, but that’s also what makes it so much fun! Every day on the water I learn something new… and occasionally the fish will cooperate. 🐟

Huge thank you to everyone at @willowflyanglers and my guide/instructor Chad for all the help, patience, and for putting me on some great fish!

And thank you to all of YOU for coming along on my fly fishing journey, even if you originally followed me for the recipes. 👩🏻‍🍳 I promise there’s still plenty of food coming… just with a few more fish mixed in these days.

If you’re looking for an amazing Colorado fly fishing trip, I definitely recommend @willowflyanglers and staying at @threeriversresort. Beautiful water, friendly people, and one of my favorite places to spend a week. 🏔️🎣

Perfect morning to hang a 15 foot Rainbow Trout! 🎣

Local artist (and my mom!), Karen Hill gave the fish above @willowflyanglers @threeriversresort a much needed refresh and it looks amazing!!!

If you’re around this summer, run up to Almont and check it out and, while you’re there grab lunch at @threeriverssmokehouse - trust me. 😎

PSA —— The time is NOW on the Gunnison River and the surrounding streams. It’s buggy, the weather is ideal and fish are looking up. Can’t beat summertime in the Gunnison Valley.

We are happy to be hosting the @risers4rett fishing fundraising tournament again this weekend. We are so appreciative of this long-standing partnership with an organization that is growing like crazy raising funds for the Rett Clinic at Denver's Children's Hospital. This group fills our cabins every April and September, we provide some fishing guides and gear and the Almont Resort across the highway provides the food and event venue. Thanks to some cooler overnight temps in recent days, flows have stabilized and the fishing has been awesome. We’re starting to see some spring hatches and the coming weeks could be some of the most productive of the season!

Taylor Park Reservoir Flow Update! (Good News)

It was decided this morning that the flow out of Taylor Dam will hold steady at 220 cfs for the remainder of September! What does this mean for us? Fall float trips on the Gunnison, our favorite!

Pocket water paradise! The Taylor River is best known for its large tail-water rainbows but further downstream you’ll find some of the best pocket water fishing available in Colorado! Lower flows provide the Wade-Angler opportunities to get to places that normally aren’t accessible by foot. Beautiful fall colors are just around the corner and the fishing is hot, where else would you rather be?

How are the flows? Great! For as dry of a year as it’s been here in southwest Colorado, we still have excellent flows coming out of Taylor Dam and they’ll continue through at least Sept 4th, hopefully beyond.

We have plenty of openings to get out there with a guide over the next few weeks, give us a call to schedule a trip or to just talk fishing! 970-641-1303
