EVERY LINE HAS A PURPOSE

With each carefully placed shade line, a flat piece of scrollwork begins to take on depth, dimension, and life.

It's a process that demands patience, a steady hand, and an understanding of how light and shadow work together.

Too little, and the design lacks depth. Too much, and the beauty of the scrollwork can disappear.

It's knowing exactly where to place the next line — and just as importantly, where not to.

That's the art of hand engraving.

It has been 20 years since I met Wilson Capron. He is a dear friend and one of the most talented bit and spur maker there is.
I have always dreamed of having something built by Wilson.
Yesterday I finally got my Wilson Capron Spurs and they are Amazing.

Put Tradition to Work.

The name was never chosen because this bit was made to sit untouched until another generation inherited it.

It was named for what was inherited before it was ever built.

A shank influenced by Jim Edwards.

A mouthpiece shaped by lessons from Greg Darnall.

Two proven ideas handed forward—not to be repeated exactly as they were, but to become the foundation for something new.

A story is created through the shape, balance, relief-engraved scrollwork, 24-karat gold and fine silver inlays. The result is a bit that carries the influence of the craftsmen who came before while remaining unmistakably his own.

That is how a tradition stays alive.

One craftsman learns from another.
He adds what only he can add.
Then the work passes forward again.
