POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Over the years I’ve found myself reflecting on how closely design trends mirror the emotional condition of society.

✨ For years, interiors became increasingly colorless. Gray, white, and beige dominated spaces, and in many cases this “minimalism” shifted from clarity into emotional emptiness.

✨ Now the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction with highly layered spaces, bold colors, competing patterns, and constant visual energy.

✨ While expression is beautiful, I believe balance will always remain timeless. Spaces without warmth can feel draining, but spaces without places for the eye and mind to rest can create tension.

✨ Balance is not the absence of creativity. It is knowing where to create that all-important WOW factor, and where to create calmness.

✨ Design has never been just visual.
It is emotional, and psychological.
And ultimately, it shapes the way we experience daily life.

I have a lot of musings about this and look forward to sharing more 💚. taken in Glen Allen, Virginia by @wilsonleeinteriors

Over the past four months, we’ve transformed a raw commercial space into a studio designed to support how we operate today.
Every wall, finish, material selection, and detail was intentional.
Not simply to create a beautiful environment, but to support the integration of our interior design and licensed Class A construction services under one roof.

Design • Build • Furnish

This is only the beginning.

Full studio walkthrough coming soon…

Yesterday at Virginia State University 🧡💙
I had the privilege of walking the grounds of a building we’re helping bring to life, while meeting prospective students touring campus.
Watching their excitement reminded me why this work matters.
We aren’t simply designing buildings. We’re helping create places that will welcome, encourage, and inspire generations of students.
There’s something deeply meaningful about investing in spaces at an HBCU; where excellence has been cultivated for generations, and where the next generation of leaders will continue that legacy.
To every student I met today: your future is bright, your dreams matter, and you deserve spaces that reflect your greatness.
The spaces we create shape the lives we live. Grateful to collaborate with the talented team at Baskervill on a project that will serve the VSU community for years to come.

Hey everyone it’s Amber! Tuesday we were talking about paint, and do you want to know HOW to choose the right paint colors for your room? Let your rug be a guide!

If you have a colorful area rug in your space, pick your favorite color from the rug and use it for your paint color! It works. Also, I looked at my share of Turkish and Kurdish rugs in Istanbul, Türkiye 🇹🇷. Which one is your favorite? 💚

It’s a rainy, cloud-covered weekend, so a little color feels especially welcome.
A fresh arrangement can bring life to a room, brighten the mood, and add a moment of joy to your day.
Sometimes it really is the little things.
Be safe today, everyone. 🙏🏾 taken in Richmond, Virginia by @wilsonleeinteriors

Design Table Tuesday | Let’s Talk Paint

Paint may be one of the easiest ways to transform a space, but there’s more to the decision than choosing a pretty color.
Undertones, natural light, sheen, adjacent finishes, and even the time of day can completely change how a color reads in a room. This week, paint is on the design table.

Hey everyone it’s Amber and today we’re admiring the architecture at one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, none other than the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila! 💚 I couldn’t film past a certain point in the church, but even the view from the entrance was absolutely breathtaking. Baroque style churches are popular in the Philippines 🇵🇭, and if you visit one, you just might [accidentally] crash a wedding or two like I did! 😄

Do you like Baroque style architecture?

From construction to completion. 🔨

This project came together one decision at a time, from framing and construction to the final layers that made the room feel complete.

I love looking back at the process because the finished space means so much more when you remember everything it took to get there.

And that stained-glass window was absolutely worth waiting for.

Design Table Tuesday - Reimagine What You Have

Sometimes refreshing a room doesn’t require replacing the furniture.
A new combination of decorative pillows, an unexpected trim, a tassel, a contrast welt, or even a different pillow shape can completely change the way a sofa or chair feels.
These smaller details are where you can introduce color, texture and personality without starting over.
For today’s Design Table Tuesday, we’re looking at some of the fabrics, trims and finishing details that can make what you already own feel fresh again.
Small details can make a beautiful difference.

Hey everyone it’s Amber and today we’re enjoying all the colors, textures, patterns, greenery, and architecture that adorn Kuala Lumpur! I came for the food but I also couldn’t help but obsess over the interiors. Malaysia is an amalgam of traditional Malay, Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, British, Portuguese and indigenous influences and it shows not only in the food but also in how their spaces are arranged and designed. Take a look for yourself!

And of COURSE I had to throw in some music from Yuna, one of my fave Malaysian artists 💚.

What’s on the Design Table Tuesday: Art

I have to show you these mirrors up close. The frames are so sculptural, and the little wooden shapes remind me of something a shoemaker would make. Then there’s the white canvas, with its gathered texture and white and gray brushstrokes. I love how the black frame sets it off.
The floral is a giclée with oil painted over it. It leans traditional in that gold frame, but the painting itself feels a little abstract. And that large abstract is an original oil painting. We pulled the fuchsia from it for the lamps nearby, and I love seeing that color carry into the room.
Which piece would you stop to look at? If you’re enjoying What’s on the Design Table Tuesday, tap like and share it with a friend.#ArtInspiration #lnteriorDesign #Giclee #DesignTableTuesday by @wilsonleeinteriors

Hey everyone it’s Amber again! Today we’re celebrating flowers, orchids in particular, AND Asian art in Singapore!

The National Orchid Garden of Singapore has a plethora of different orchid species; pictured here are only a few! Afterwards, I attended a special art tour at the St. Regis in Singapore. My favorite piece was actually the chandelier on the second slide, which is a boat in memory of John Jacob Astor IV, the founder of the St. Regis hotel chain. He was aboard the Titanic and died when it went down, as he gave his seat on the lifeboat to his wife. 🥺

Which painting and/or orchid is your favorite? 🤩🇸🇬
