I had a LOT of time to think while I was down south truckin, and it really gave me the chance to look back with some clarity at the last 12 months with the dust settled a little bit.

It’s been an absolute lesson in Stress Management, Perspective and Will Power.
Looking back I can say I am proud of how I dealt with everything and for not allowing myself to become Nihilistic, because at times it definitely would have been very easy to fall into the pattern of negativity. But that would’ve gotten me nowhere.
I’m proud that I still tried to work whenever I was well enough, and did my best to get to the gym or go for a ride even when I felt pretty weathered and weak.

Surgery and Chemo may have temporarily weakened my body, but they strengthened my mind forever...
I spent my 30th birthday in the chemo ward with a drip of poison in my arm..That’s a shit day… THAT is now my baseline for a bad day, after that, all the other everyday trials and tribulations of life seem like nothing, and every day inconveniences really are no big deal. If ya ain’t gonna be worried out it in 5 years, don’t worry about it for more than 5 minutes…As they say..

It’s been a lot of work to get back on track, but I’ve been hella disciplined with my diet and exercise and I can say I’m in bloody good shape again and am stronger and running further than I ever have before. I feel Fkn good man.

Anyway, I got my 6 month post treatment results yesterday and I’m strong and healthy. All the Scans were clear and my bloods were great! A massive relief as there was a lot riding on this one.
Unfortunately with ‘Big C’ dramas there is no clear finish line, it’s remission, so I’ve still gotta monitor things over the next few years but I’ll find the balance, I’m not gonna turn my life into a never ending search of looking for a problem..

To finish, it’s a lesson I definitely could have done without, however it happened, and I have grown, fortified my mind, and now have an even more unquenchable lust for life… And tell ya what, a little bit of PTSD keeps ya productive too!! 😂😂 just gammon.

Life has thrown me a pretty tough curveball lately. Long story short I got diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year. I have managed to keep it on the down low pretty well, but now as chemotherapy takes it’s toll on my body I sort of can’t deny it anymore.

As someone that tends to lean more on the organic side of life I really wanted to avoid chemo, but after surgery they found it had spread to a lymph node so the writing was on the wall I guess, but it was not a decision I took lightly. A tough pill to swallow when you’re in the best shape of your life.

I owe Alex a massive thankyou for looking after me during the chemo weeks, I honestly couldn’t do it without you. Thankyou so much you know I love you.
And another huge thanks to all my deadly mates who have checked in on me, offered to help wherever they can from meals to firewood or lifts to the hospital. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it and it will not be forgotten I am here whenever you need a hand.

I am not fragile about this saga and don’t feel sorry me, that’s the last thing I want! This does suck but aside from this my life has been and is bloody awesome. Which is why I added in a bunch of recent-ish memories of life being just that.

I have learned a hell of a lot about a wide variety of things but I think the biggest thing I could pass on would be to get out there live life to the fullest because you never know when the proposition of an early death may be put to you.

Again, this is a bit daunting to put out there, I do not want this to become my identity, this does not define me this is just my current chapter, my mind is strong and my body will recover. I love my life. Peace!! taken in Lillian Rock, New South Wales, Australia by @wilto950

Cruised about 13,000km over 6 states in the last 4 months. This country is amazing.
1- Epic spot for a camp.

2- My last run into Northwest Victoria carting walls for a grain bunker —Fkn loved truckin but the lifestyle is rough
