I had hoped for mind blowing agrostemma for this wedding last weekend but they didn’t show their faces until after the big day. I was consoled by the other meadow inspired flowers for this country wedding - ammi, larkspur, cosmos and nigella in particular.When you grow all the ingredients on the farm it can be a bit of a gamble but it always seems to come together.#flowerfarm #kimberleybc #cranbrookbc #kootenaygrown #farmerflorist #weddingflowers by @windflowerfarm_bc

I’ve grown waaay too many snapdragons in the past cause I love them so much and can’t help myself. I managed some self control this spring and it feels like I have the perfect amount finally. On the other hand, I grew a few less bellflower this year and am regretful. You all love them so much and they sure look cute with all the other wildflowery things this time of year.Anyway, I harvested the first dahlia a few nights ago which means wildflowery bouquets are coming to an end soon and we’ll be into full summer blooms. #flowerfarmer #kimberleybc #cranbrookbc #kootenaygrown #seasonalfloweralliance #snapdragon #zone3 #womenwhofarm by @windflowerfarm_bc

I hear a decent number of people talk about wildflower bouquets. While it’s not my favourite time in the season I’ve found a few flowers to make bouquets pull together more easily. It’s been the busiest week in the best kind of way.I harvested every stem possible and sent everything out into the world to be enjoyed. The peonies are pretty much done. Between heat and frost the harvest was not bountiful this year but it saw me through weeks of bouquets and two weddings. Farm stand will be back in a couple days with wild flower themed bouquets. This wedding had a ways to travel so I packed her up with a terribly yellow tissue paper and wished everyone a safe trip. I cursed myself for letting these peonies blow open in the heat and I’ll thank myself in autumn for making them the first flowers I hung to dry. The peonies sure took their time getting here this year. I don’t blame them, given the weather we’ve had. I’ve never been so late getting starts in the ground either. There never seemed to be a reliable stretch of weather without frost overnight until this week. I do so love a flowering shrubbery. Give me all woody-stemmed blooms and I’m in heaven. Some things may be a mess around here right now but I’m really proud that I got every shrub pruned this spring for the first time ever. The last of these snow balls went to subscriptions and hit farm stand bouquets today. Thanks to my full season subscribers for enduring the whacky schedule lately. More flowering shrubs to come: mock orange and hydrangeas are budding.
