We’re expecting to cross the 7000 trash bags mark at the next Windhoek cleanup event 😮‍💨🇳🇦

What started out as a few friends meeting to execute a simple form of service 2 years ago, turned into a way to feed children in Katutura.

For over 18 months now, passionate community leaders engage their neighbors to get together every first Saturday of the month and clean up their environment.

Every trash bags they collect equals 3n$ that they can redeem in groceries. - that’s the new system we’re currently establishing and fine tuning with every month

Thank you for your support 🤍

Katutura is 29 trash bags cleaner thanks for Mekkys Kindergarten 🤍

This child Center is on course to be integrated next into the waste reward system that will allow them to get points for each trash bag collected. These points can then be redeemed for groceries 🥕

Thank you for your service 🧼

Recently, we’ve announced the waste reward system and received many sweet and supportive messages. Thank you 🫶🏼

We have been softly working on integrating this system for the past 6 months and at this stage we confident enough with the structure to ask for monetary support of Namibian businesses, so we can make this a circular system. 🇳🇦 If you want that as well.

Thank you to all overseas donors that helped us on making it this far. Beautiful collective effort from all angles 🤍

And after all, thank you to @cowmunicipality for providing the materials 🧼

❌ No other child centres will be integrated before we can’t guarantee grocery flow long term. We expect to open up and help more child centres early 2027

We cleaned up over 6600 trash bags over the past 2 years, but what’s next? 👇

The waste reward system puts a value of at least 3 N$ to every trash bag the child centres clean up so they can redeem the points for healthy groceries 🥘

✅ Yes - we welcome (preferably monthly) contributions from local Namibian businesses starting from as little at 200N$ a month (Learn more via link in Bio)

❌ No - we currently don’t accept new child centres in the system. Right now we are strengthening the foundation of this new system and once we establish a clear self organised mentorship structure, we will open the doors. (Expected early 2027)

Share this with somebody that was always looking for a way to give back to the community but was still looking for a meaningful and trustful way 🫶🏼

We’re currently testing out the system with 4 core child centres in Katutura that have been cleaning up their neighborhood self organised without any expectation for 2 years. Already redeemed over 3000N$ in groceries through the system. 🤍

Meanwhile all cleanups are self organised by community leaders in different areas across Katutura. If you feel called to join a team, DM us or leave a comment

It’s an honour to serve ✌️

Oh and.. tomorrow we’ll reveal another upgrade to this initiative. Stay tuned 🤍 taken in Windhoek, Namibia by @windhoek_cleanup
