Goldendoodle sizing at Windsong !

Choosing the right size Goldendoodle can be challenging, especially since sizes vary among breeders. At Windsong, I aim to eliminate the guesswork by providing clear visual comparisons. At 5’5”, I’ve taken a video with most of the sizes we offer, helping you see the differences firsthand.

Here’s a quick overview of our sizing:

- **Toy:** Under 15 lbs and under 14 inches at the shoulder
- **Petite Mini:** 15-25 lbs and under 16 inches at the shoulder
- **Mini:** 25-35 lbs and under 18 inches at the shoulder
- **Medium:** 35-45 lbs and under 18-21 inches at the shoulder
- **(Small) Standards:** 45-55 lbs and under 24 inches at the shoulder
- **Large Standards:** 60 lbs and over, 24 inches and above at the shoulder

We have quite a few new faces here and I thought I’d share a bit about us and how we got started. 😀

The Windsong Story:

It all started with me 😅 Hi 👋 I’m Jillian. I’ve always been a puppy person. I love dogs and grew up in the dog world. My mom raised and showed champion doggos. While I tended to shy away from the confirmation ring, I excelled in obedience & agility. As a child, my boy (dog) and I won lots of competitions even ahead of experienced adults. We didn’t have puppies often, but when we did it our home often became NICU. I would alternate with my mom and get up and help syringe feed puppies. (The breed of dog we raised needed a lot more support than our goldendoodles do. I am so grateful that ours are amazing moms, and we rarely have to step in.)

Fast forward a solid 15 years- I really just wanted an awesome family dog for my three babies. I decided on a goldendoodle because, you know, Goldens just shed way too much…. At this point (way before Covid!) wait times were easily 18 months to two years. After lots of searching and really not being able to find a high quality breeder in CA without a super long wait, I decided I would invest in breeding quality female and start my own program.

Our little Figgy outdid herself once again! This time, lots of dark chocolate babies, and they are absolutely scrumptious! There are a couple I’m already wishing I had held back. These little faces are so hard to let go of!

This is what our puppies can do after 4 weeks of training! 🤍

This boy just graduated from Puppy Kindergarten, and here he is practicing a long down stay. Watching him stay focused and settled while life happens around him makes me so proud!

Our 4-week program gives puppies time to practice their skills in real life, and I love showing you what they’re capable of. Just look at him go!

Their first time in the pool. 🥹

I know some people think puppies just need to be put in the water and they’ll figure it out. I see this differently. A first experience is a chance to build trust, so we keep it gentle, stay close, and let each puppy take it in at their own pace.

Some are ready to paddle. Some need a little more time in our arms. Both are okay. I love watching the moment curiosity takes over and they realize we’re right there with them.
