Enoteca Bisson was founded in 1978 by Pierluigi Lugano. Pierluigi is one of those master of all trades sort. For the Bisson Glera Frizzante, Lugano works with his good friend, Eli Spagnol, of the Torre Zecchei winery in the elite Prosecco winemaking appellation of Valdobbiadene. It's bone-dry and vivid, with notes of floral honey, pear and green apples, tart nectarines and honeysuckle.

The duo are known for their gorgeous wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and this lovely Chardonnay from the Eola-Amity Hills appellation stands up to the hype. It's dry and fuller-bodied with notes of orchard fruit, quince, and flinty minerality.

We LOVE their Grenache!!!! This one is dry, on the heavier end of medium-bodied, and bursting with flavors of strawberry jam, blood orange, and baking spice. It's a sexy one!

We usually keep the fro going until November, however, our Frosé machine, Abe Fro-mann, Chicago Frosé King, in on his last leg and is CLANKING at us loudly and it’s driving us all cray cray. DESIGN GONE RIGHT
@winegoddessevanston has done it right. The Parisian chairs out front are naturally inviting. The floral installment brings delight and wonder. The custom mosaic along the entryway and stone carving of a goddess bring whimsy and make the business feel like it’s been there for ages. This design makes it a destination.

Moreover, the design is an accurate reflection of the owner whose warmth and genuine enthusiasm makes you feel like you’re a close friend. Design should extend organically from the soul(s) who inhabit the space. If it doesn’t, guests and clients will feel it. There will be a disconnect that keeps people away.

Happy first day of classes to all in the Northwestern community! To celebrate the end of a wonderful summer—and to welcome in the new academic year—I cooked a decadent pasta with fresh basil, heirloom tomatoes, and lobster. A summery meal needs a summery wine, and I turned to the tried-and-true rosé that I’ve been guzzling for the past two months: Montenidoli’s gorgeous rosé of Canaiuolo. It’s bone-dry and delicate with slight berry notes and a crazy degree of minerality, which paired perfectly with the fresh sea spray flavor of the lobster. The wine also has a faint tomato water note that was enhanced by the heirlooms in the dish. It was a lovely pairing to see off the loveliest of summers! Welcome, fall—I’m ready for you!
