Happy Shiraz Day 🍇🍷My favourite grape!Australia loves Shiraz too, with approximately 40,000 hectares, it's the most widely planted variety. Wine event in prison last weekend.You saw my last post of me getting locked up, but now I share with youuthe wines enjoyed upon my release 🙌We started with a Champagne, before moving on to a fabulous Tuscan line up 🥂🍷💯*NV Jerome Blin Champagne La Haute Cirrière Blanc de Noirs - Pinot Munier and Pinot Noir from the Marne Valley*2022 Fattoria di Bacchereto Bianco Sassocarlo Terre a Mano Toscana IGT Bianco - a skin contact white, 80% Trebbiano di Toscana, 20% Malvasia del Chianti*2023 Fattoria di Bacchereto Vino Rosso - 100% Sangiovese from the Estate in Carmignano*2020 Tenuta la Novella Chianti Classico Riserva Piano del Sarti - 100% Sangiovese, 20 year old vines, high altitude, biodynamic *2016 Tenuta la Novella IGT Syrah Colli Toscana Centrale Fonte Domini - 100% Syrah, single vineyard, 15 year old vinesHeld at Pentridge Prison, opened in 1851 and closed in 1997.D Division, where this event took place, was initially the female jail, but later the maximum security area where 11 executions took place.Many of the blue stone buildings still standing are now Heritage Listed. Today was emotional 😔My brother has been on my mind everyday for the past two years, and today so much so that I drove to the park on my lunch break to clear my head.I saw a two Rainbow Lorikeets 20 metres away. Took out my phone to take a photo, and one of them flew towards me and landed on my hand 🦜It was so calm, just standing there, for a minute or more, chirping casually before flying away.I know this was my brother communicating with me, sending me his love and letting me know he is Ok.I cried, and later came home to raise a glass to the sky, to him, and to all of you who are missing a loved one.They may not be here with us in body, but they arehere in spirit and always in our beautiful memories 💜#imissmybrother #lovingmemories #cheerstolovedones #sunsetmemories #asign by @winelifeforme

My seaside pour?Fumé Blanc! Not an alternative grape, but Sauvignon Blanc made in an alternative style.Generally, Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in stainless steel, resulting in a fresh, bright and fruit-driven wine. Fumé Blanc, on the other hand, is made from the same grape but fermented in oak, creating a richer, creamier and more textured wine.This one from the Yarra Valley had 20% of the fruit undergo carbonic maceration, malolactic fermentation, and was aged in new oak.It's got the crisp, vibrant character of Sauvignon Blanc but offers a more layered and complex expression.Think tropical aromas on the nose, citrus and a subtle savoury note on the palate. While I wouldn't describe this as a rich, creamy wine, it certainly has a softness that rounds out the lively acidity and gives it a lovely mouthfeel.Nicely balanced and just right for a sunny winter day 🌞@decentwines#fuméblanc #winestyle #decentwines #alternativestyles#smallbatchwine by @winelifeforme

When the wine bottle blends in with scenery! Nocton is Tasmania's first producer of Chenin Blanc, and after a visit to the cellar door earlier this year, it was declared the winning wine by all of us.Extremely aromatic, floral and fruity and something so prominent, but I can't quite place.I know Chenin Blanc is often noted to have quince characters, so I am thinking maybe that's it?If you have tried this wine, please feel free to enlighten me. If not, a trip to the market on the weekend to smell a quince is on the cards!I may not know what I am smelling, but whatever it is, trust me, it is intoxicating and wonderful. As is the lime, apple and pear on the palate. As is the refreshing acidity. Yummo to this wine.If you are in Hobart, a trip to the cellar door is a great idea. What wine would you open pre Boney M concert?Disco pup for sure 🌟When you are focussed on the party and ready to boogie, you are not looking for a complex wine, you dont need a wine that has too much going on. You want something light, fresh and zesty that enhances the mood. A fun wine, an easy drinking wine, and I found it right here.A vibrant blend of Grenache Blanc and Rolle, this wine brought the party vibes to the pre party.You may have seen my stories from the concert, a fab night of disco. Gotta love a wine from a forward thinking producer in McLaren Vale 🌟Orbis wines understand that sustainability begins with regeneration.....you can't sustain until you have repaired the eco system. This has been their focus for quite some time, as they move towards their goal of full organic and biodynamic accreditation within three years, and to be carbon neutral by 2030.The name and label represents their ethos - Orbis meaning circular in Latin, and the Ouroborous label symbolizing continuous regeneration and renewal. Giving back to the land, rather than just taking from it. They have planted varieties from the warmer and drier regions of Southern Europe such as Nero D'Avola, which was my choice today.Dark berries, plum and I also got hint of chocolate on the finish. Happy National Rosé Day!I am bringing the vibes with what may be one of the cutest labels ever 🦏🐆🐻Rhino Tiger Bear is a family owned urban winery based in Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula.The name is a combination of husband and wife Rhiannon and Owen (Rhino) and their two children's middle names (Tiger and Bear).Shiraz is the grape in this Rosé which they source from Heathcote, and after pressing is fermented in oak (a small amount of new).A gorgeous colour in the glass. Strawberry and melon, and a hint of spice. If you love a Rosé with a balance of fresness and creaminess, then this is one to try. Fabulous label, fabulous Rosé I visited this winery in 2024, and promised at the time I would share more with you here. It took a while, but almost two years later, I finally got around to it. On our second last night together (she goes home on Tuesday 😿), we couldn't quite decide what wine to open. Kiki wanted a Grenache with juicy red fruits and soft texture.I wanted a Shiraz with rich dark fruit and peppery spice.Why can't we have both, with some Mataro to also bring structure and earthy notes?
