🐉 CARD OF THE WEEK: Ancient Mew 🐉

The only card in the hobby you literally cannot read — and that’s the whole point.

These were handed out in movie theaters during the first week of Pokémon the Movie 2000, printed entirely in ancient Mew runes instead of English. It was banned from Standard tournaments for nearly two decades because judges couldn’t read it — the 2019 reprint finally lifted the ban, as long as you brought the official translation with you. 😅

Collector note: the first Japanese printing misspelled “Nintendo” as “NINTEDO” in the copyright line, and those error copies are the ones that carry the real premium today.

The Doc’s take: one of the coolest movie promos ever made, it’s affordable, and every binder deserves one. Not everything in this hobby has to be a grail to be legendary.

So — who’s got an Ancient Mew in their collection? Drop a 🃏 if you do, or tell us the weirdest promo YOU own. 👇

Did Lamar look more like Charizard yesterday OR is he still in Vicks shadow? Behavior and Lore
* Aggressive Nature: Unlike the gentle Charmander, Charmeleon is vicious and constantly seeks out strong opponents to fight.
* Bluish-White Flames: When excited by a powerful foe, the flame on its tail can turn a dangerous bluish-white.
* Evolution: It evolves from Charmander at level 16 and evolves into the Flying-type Charizard at level 36. [1, 2]
Anime and Media Appearances
* Ash’s Charmeleon: In the Pokémon Wiki, Ash’s Charmander evolved into a notoriously disobedient and arrogant Charmeleon during a fight against an army of Exeggutor.
* Relaxation: Despite its constant anger and love for battle, it immediately calms down and relaxes once it wins a fight. by @winkiestco

One last run.
The breakup between Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) and Nintendo in 2003 is one of the wildest, most chaotic periods in trading card history. It went far beyond a standard corporate split, involving corporate espionage, printing press slip-ups, and a legendary sabotage campaign. by @winkiestco
