POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
My name is Winslow Morrell. I’m a therapist and the owner of @rethinktherapies.
As a therapist, I never expect my clients to do something I’m not willing to do myself. For me, that starts with my health. I wake up at 5:30 every morning to hit the gym because staying physically consistent helps me show up better for everyone else.
Relationships are just as important. Showing up for my wife and kids is my number one priority.
I’m also a firm believer in lifelong learning. I’ve earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and I’m currently working toward my PhD. In my free time, you’ll usually find me reading anything I can get my hands on, or attempting to play (or at least watch) sports.
To keep myself grounded and headed in the right direction, I center my life on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Staying spiritually fed matters to me just as much as staying physically and mentally sharp.
At the end of the day, I’d never ask someone to do something I’m not willing to do myself. I believe that doing the simple things—consistently—is what helps us stay mentally healthy.

The road to the 1,000-pound club isn’t pretty. It’s years of consistency, failed reps, questionable decisions… and apparently emergency bathroom breaks. 😂💀

Bench. Deadlift. Squat. Total’s on the screen.

How close are you to 1,000?
Drop your total below. ⬇️

Man, six years of knowing my wife feels like one of those Netflix specials where you think you’re just sitting down for a chill 30 minutes, and suddenly it’s 2 a.m. and you’re questioning your whole life. I remember when we first met — she had that look like, “I can fix this man,” and I had that look like, “I definitely need fixing.” #love #dontdivorceme #booyah taken in Corona Arch by @winslowmorrell

It’s time to get back to posting weird shiz.

There was an AI video of a grandma fighting a frickin bear that I just watched for 20 minutes.

And I used to get so much crap for “having a weird instagram.” Well, guess what? If I woulda kept doing that, I would have been AI!!!

So, welcome back to reading this long post, suckers. I hope I wasted about 20 seconds of your day with this dope picture I created (without AI) #pigeonpixel by @winslowmorrell

Psychologists have a tough time defining purity.

Instead of labeling it with descriptives to help the unlearned know how to identify it, psychologists usually classify it by saying what it’s not instead of what it is.

It’s not rotten, spoiled, selfish, or contaminated by harmful influences (such as pride, lust, greed, anger, and dishonesty). Maybe that’s pretty self-explanatory to most.

But after some contemplation, I might have smoked academia with a new, more sophisticated definition of what purity is:

The living kindness of a child’s thought.

Sit with my daughter for 10 minutes, and you will get a glimpse of it. But to explain my point, I accidentally smashed my daughter’s finger while I was putting away a camping chair. Instead of screaming at me for being so careless, hating me for the way I wronged her, she began to cry and reached towards me, quite possibly pulling every string within this father’s heart. She instantly forgave, forgot, and reached out in love.

I think Fyodor Dostoyevsky said it best when he said— with a bit of editing— if anything does preserve society, even in our time, and does regenerate and transform the criminal, it is only the purity of a child speaking to the conscience of the person. by @winslowmorrell

The naming of my son was relatively simple.

I started by analytically going through every boy name that correlated with someone from high school who called me the following: Window, Wilfred, lose-fast, and Wintard” and took that boy name off my list of potential names.

This left me with about 30 potential names.

The next step was to compile the list, rank the names from my favorite to least favorite, and present them to my wife. She looked at them and said no to every single one.

This left me with zero names.

Frustrated, I redesigned my strategy.

Instead of asking my wife if she liked a name, I simply started calling my pre-born son names that I knew she would hate—the top of that list: Bo’Rick, Xeo, Richard, Rafa, and old Greg.

I knew I had her when she said, “You can literally name him anything besides one of those names.”

My psychology degree had finally done something for me. It had ousted my wife’s all-dominating power in making final decisions in our relationship for the first time since I said, “Will you marry me?”

From that, Maverick Meeks Morrell was born.

Megan, once again, tough as nails, pushed this baby out naturally in a bathtub while I whispered sweet nothings in her ear. We are both very excited to have more testosterone in our home.

Happy that Kyle, inadvertently, will always have to call my son Maverick. I thank God everyday for another miracle. taken in Orem, Utah by @winslowmorrell

In my heart of hearts I’m a softie, a cuddle bunny. I know I can be stark and intimidating but inside every mans-man is the person they’re publicly scared to be. See, I like love stories. I watch bachelor in paradise eagerly. My wife was the one who noted how happily I react when couples actually work out.

Do I believe in destiny? Fate? You bet. Things happen for a reason. Which is why I’m an optimist.

I like feeling this way. Like, “I met Megan because of circumstances—now what?” I always hoped that something cool would happen.

And on my wife’s birthday, it feels especially right to say that meeting her was one of those “meant to be” moments—proof that God knew exactly what He was doing. I can promise you that she is very needed and loved in my little family. She does a wonderful job of keeping everything stable for me. I love you Megan and happy birthday. by @winslowmorrell

I haven’t always been a dad. One year ago, I was just a guy living a carefree life, responsible for my wife, dumb as could be. I didn’t need to change any diapers or help with any spit-up.

Then I became a dad.

I now had to be responsible and influence another human on the path of life. I’ve never intended to influence anyone to do anything, and judging by the way my wife never listens to me, I wouldn’t be good at it if I tried. but I continue to try.

I have also been trying to work on dad jokes.

Here was the first one I came up with: Having a baby is like a box of chocolate: You never know what you’re gonna get—other than some sticky brown stuff on your hands.

Get it?

Take it from someone who couldn’t have given a crap about a single baby before I had my own. I just wasn’t interested. I didn’t care how they smelled, and when I did care how they smelled, it wasn’t a good thing.

Jokes aside, this has been a wonderful year full of love, laughter, and humility as I continue to try to be the best dad to my little angel. by @winslowmorrell

My seven-month-old puked near my face the other morning while I was holding her. This usually happens to my wife, which always makes me laugh, but when this happened to me, my reaction was to vomit in return.

I gagged.

Whenever baby vomit is mentioned or sniffed, my pharyngeal reflex starts firing up, and I lose it, which sucks. Someday, I hope to possess the power of my wife who, even with all of the nasty smells a baby produces, can stay calm and act as if she doesn’t smell anything.

This is a power I envy, kind of.

Beyond grateful for my freaking awesome wife and all she does. I am thankful that my daughter is cool. I’m glad that life doesn’t suck but that it continues to get better through all of the cool experiences life has.

Here is a cool video; wait till the end.
