I’ve been going to Open Studio @lucastudiogallery for about a year now. I’ve learn so much about my art and myself from Kelly and all the artists that come to Open Studio. While Kelly’s art is being displayed at the Cambria Hotel, Kelly decided to display our art at the gallery. I’m proud to say my artwork has now been displayed in a gallery. Trying a stitched ground this time, topped off with translucent sequins. Love how the light is casted by the sequin colors.

Back to goal of 100 textures with vintage sequins. This is no. 71, with “new” translucent green with minimal iridescence. Love layering these on other base colors to see how the color changes.

Demo of stitch techniques used in “Benevolence“ for @piedmontcraftsmen summer show This is The Way -a Study in Maps, June 5 – July 31 at Piedmont Craftsmen Gallery, 601 Trade St NW, Winston-Salem.
18” x 48” repurposed roadmaps and shipping materials vintage (1920’s!) and contemporary sequins, glass seed beads, hand stitched with nylon thread and embroidered with cotton floss.

Finished and delivered to @piedmontcraftsmen for the summer show- This is the way- a Study in Maps.
18” x 48” repurposed roadmaps, packaging material, vintage and contemporary sequins, glass seed beads, hand stitched with nylon thread on canvas, embroidered with cotton floss.
Titled BENEVOLENCE, which is name of the stage following midlife.
Start date April 5, finish date May 26.

Silfab Solar had its first chemical spill today. Still think it should be located in a light industrial zone next to 2 new schools, a senior living facility, surrounded by thousands of residences???!!!! This is one hell of a wake up call!!

Getting the finished work prepared to ship requires measuring, cutting and fabricating a box. The sequins cannot handle being disturbed or subjected to pressure.
Layers of foam core board are stacked to ensure a cover will clear the height of sequins with some room to spare.
(The white glassine paper protects the frame and gets removed!)
