People always ask why I stay until the park closes.

The truth is, leaving is the hardest part.

If I had to choose my favorite time to be at Disneyland, it would always be at night. There’s just something about the glowing lights, the atmosphere, the music, and the way the entire park comes alive after dark. Everything feels a little more magical, the moments feel more special, and the memories seem to last a little longer. No matter how many times I visit, Disneyland at night will always have my heart. Vulnerable post.

I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression for many years. If you know me personally, you know. If you don’t, I’ve just gotten really good at hiding it.

Over the years, videography has become more than just a passion. When I picked up a camera over 10 years ago, I found a creative outlet that allowed me to express myself through storytelling. The videos I create on Wish Upon A Reel, especially the ones meant to encourage and inspire others, come from a personal place. They’re often reflections of things I’ve experienced, lessons I’ve learned, or words I know I need to hear myself.

And somewhere along the way, Disneyland became my safe place.

No matter what I’m going through, the moment I step onto Disney property, everything seems to quiet down. Even if it’s just for a little while, I can let go of my anxiety, be present, and enjoy the moment.

I also want to remind anyone who might be struggling silently that you’re not alone. I’m fortunate to have people in my life I trust and can talk to, and I encourage you to find your circle, too. Surround yourself with people who remind you that you don’t have to carry everything on your own.

And please remember, you never truly know what someone is going through behind their smile. So always choose kindness.

You’re going to be okay. You are loved. You are worthy. And we’re all in this together.

I just wanted to introduce myself if you’re new here.

My name is Ryan, and I’m the creator behind Wish Upon a Reel.

I’ve been a videographer for over 10 years, but I’m still learning every day and constantly trying to get better because I truly believe there’s always more to learn.

I own my own production company and have been freelancing full time for the last three years after deciding this was something I wanted to pursue on my own. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some incredible companies and celebrities, but video has become so much more than just my career.

It’s become a way for me to express myself, my emotions, and tell stories that mean something to me.

And I’ve always loved Disney.

About six months ago, I decided to simply have fun and start creating content from the parks I love so much. A lot of what you see here comes from things I’ve personally experienced in my own life. I figured that maybe by being vulnerable and sharing some of those stories, someone else might feel a little less alone.

So whether you’ve been here since I started this journey six months ago or you’re just joining me now, welcome.

Life moves so quickly, and sometimes we get so caught up in where we’re going that we forget to appreciate what’s right in front of us. If you ever have the opportunity to just sit, slow down, and take in the little details at Disneyland, I encourage you to do it. You’ll be surprised by how many things you’ve walked past a hundred times but never truly noticed. Disneyland has an incredible way of putting magic into even the smallest details. It wasn’t until I started filming videos at the parks that I began seeing things I had never noticed before. I started looking at familiar places from different perspectives, and suddenly, there was so much more to appreciate. Sometimes, all it takes is slowing down and looking at something a little differently to discover something beautiful. So the next time you visit Disneyland, or even as you go through everyday life, give yourself permission to slow down. Look around. Be present. Appreciate the little things. Because life moves fast, and sometimes the most beautiful moments are the ones we almost walk right past.
