Learning shapes with my 3-year-old! 🔺🟠

A little hands-on learning followed by independent practice!

We explored circles and triangles using Play-Doh, practiced identifying shapes, and finished with a cut-and-paste activity from our October Playbook.

Learning the color BLACK! 🕷️🖤

A little Halloween-themed color lesson during our preschool-at-home time!

Here’s how we practiced:

🖤 Introduce: We started with a homemade color anchor chart, naming the color BLACK and identifying each picture.

🕷️ Explore: We talked about the different objects, practiced vocabulary, and identified things around us that were black.

🔎 Spider Hunt: I hid little spiders around the room for her to find! Each discovery gave us another opportunity to reinforce the color black.

👀 Check for understanding: I asked questions and had her point to different pictures to reinforce what we learned.

🖍️ Practice: We wrapped up with a fun coloring activity to reinforce color recognition and practice following directions!

We’re exploring BLACK this week as part of our October Preschool Playbook! 🎃

Our kitchen turned into a witch’s potion lab today 🧙‍♀️🧪

Baking soda + colorful “potions” made the easiest fizzy Halloween experiment! 🎃 She loved using the syringe to mix her potions and watching them bubble over. 🫧

Easy setup, lots of excitement + a little science along the way.

A little sticker sorting + a whole lot of toddler yapping 😂🎃

We sorted our Halloween stickers, worked those little fingers, practiced matching… and naturally ended by decorating Dad. 🤣

Such an easy little activity — and the stickers were a Dollar Tree find! 👻🕷️🍬

October sensory table is starting to come together 👻🎃

I added our Halloween picture cards for a simple hide & seek. She gets to dig, scoop, find + name each picture while we sneak in a little vocabulary along the way.

I’ll probably keep adding and switching things up throughout the month, but this was an easy way to get started. 🤍

It’s more than just gluing 🥹

Watching her slow down, focus and figure it out is my favorite part. From squeezing the glue bottle to gripping the glue stick, placing the pieces and pressing them down… those little hands are WORKING. 🤎

Simple activities like this give little learners so much practice with hand strength, coordination and fine motor skills… all while they think they’re just creating. ✂️✨

And that concentration? My favorite. 🥹 by @withaeja
