Spent this week in Austin representing @wearetheangelgroup at the first Better Bites Food Forum, plus time with a few key team members proving I’m a whole person and not just a face in a Zoom square.

The last few years have taught me how to say no when something doesn’t serve the work, and how to tell the difference between busy and useful. This trip proved that theory to be correct.

It’s still hard to leave the comfort of normalcy, especially with young kids at home, but I’m always glad when I make the time for the in person connection. by @withalyssa.arnold

Official countdown: two weeks until school starts.

I’ve been craving a schedule again. A little structure. The chance to really dig back into work without constantly being interrupted. But at the same time, I’m already a little sad knowing the kids are about to head back to school and this season is coming to an end.

The older I get, the more I realize two things can be true at the same time. I can be excited to get back into a routine and still wish I could stretch these last couple weeks of summer just a little longer.

So for now, we’re saying yes to one more pool day, one more popsicle, one more late bedtime, and one more adventure... even if it is 105 freaking degrees outside. by @withalyssa.arnold

For the last six years, Jason and I have quietly carried this dream of finding a place where we could build a home that would outlive us, somewhere our kids would one day bring their own kids and make memories we can’t even imagine yet.

We knew we wanted the Northeast. Somewhere with deep history, a real sense of community, trails to wander, beautiful views, and if we were lucky, a little water nearby. The hard part was finding a place that felt like the place.

As it turns out, the right place found us. Friends happened to move to a small town we had never really considered, introduced us to the area, and not long after, the most incredible piece of land came on the market. It still feels a little surreal that it’s ours.

This was our first summer getting to experience it with the kids, and it made all those years of dreaming feel very real. We’re starting to think about what we’ll build there. I’m sure that part will take time too, and honestly, I hope it does. Some things are worth doing slowly.

For now, we’re just grateful. Grateful that we found it, grateful the kids already love it, and hopeful that long after we’re gone, this little piece of the world will still be bringing our family together. by @withalyssa.arnold

Happy 250th, America
A girl with an engineering degree and no real roadmap got to bet on herself and build something of value.
What started as a simple consulting firm so I could stay home with my babies has grown into a career I never could have imagined. Now I get to spend my days building alongside people I love, backing founders chasing impossible ideas, and investing in the future of food.
The more time I spend with founders, the more I appreciate that this country is one of the few places in the world where innovation, capital, opportunity, and the freedom to take risks all exist at once, and at extraordinary scale. It’s a place where ambitious ideas actually have a chance to become something enduring.
Grateful today, and grateful for the people I get to build alongside. by @withalyssa.arnold
