This was my 2nd cardigan but technically my first granny hex cardigan. Learned a lot my first time going through this pattern. My mom taught me how to properly sew on the granny squares for the back and I couldn't thank her enough for it. The one thing that always held me back was learning how to sew on pieces so they wouldn't come undone.

The only ribbing I did was on the cuffs with the front & back stitch post and the bottom of it was just regular double crochet. Collar is double crochet but I went around the whole bottom, I really like how it looked overall. My boo choose the yarn, I took her to hobby lobby and we looked at all the yarn. It is acrylic but now I'm really excited to try different materials like cotton, bamboo, and wool at some point.

CARDIGAN HAS BEEN FINISHED

Gave it another pass with the steamer and two washes to finish the block and this is the end result. Pattern is a hex granny square stitch and basic granny squares to join them in the middle.The collar I went with a double crochet then 3 more rows of half double crochet. Cuffs and bottom ribbing were double crochet going from the front and back posts to create the ribbing effect.

I want to say it took me maybe about 2-4 months, I'm not entirely sure but definitely have some practice after finishing my girlfriend's first.

After 6 years of crocheting I finally got around to making this for myself. I put a lot of projects and practice into things I could make for others and I never really made myself anything so FINALLY SOMETHING I CAN FUCKING WEAR.

I'm so proud of this one 🥹🥹🥹🥹

STAIN - WITHER//BLOOM - One take playthrough

This is probably the hardest song that I've had to play with the bois. It feels like a never ending arm wrestle. Tests my stamina every god damn time I play it. If I had to choose a favorite out of all our songs this has to be my favorite ever to play (unless you count the new stuff ;) ). Getting the hang of using Davinci Resolve, its been a fun learning experience learning a video editor.

I use alot of different octaves in this song, its the same riff most of the time. I think its so important that bassists use their whole arsenal. YOU CAN LITERALLY CHANGE THE WHOLE FEEL OF THE SONG JUST BY PLAYING SOMETHING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. This is also is one of the first songs that I went VERY percussive. Gotta use my whole arm to play the fucking breakdown.

(Also if you watch til the end you'll hear Matt make an appearance)

Eye of Misery - WITHER//BLOOM - One take playthrough 💯

This was one of the first songs that I got to finally put a riff in. I fucking love playing this song live, The whole song is incredibly fun to play (heavy on the left hand pressure). Using the same technique I used in BC, I incorporated a few dead notes in between the slaps BUT NOT ALWAYS. I love me some mf aggressive bass riffs.

(Also got to use my live rig this time)
Most of my tone comes from Parallax but it boosted with an ampeg preamp pedal to give it that smooth sub frequency response..

Business Casual - WITHER//BLOOM - One take playthrough.

I remember taking a nap on the couch at our space one night when Matt was cooking up a storm. It took him two hours to get the structure of the song and all the riffs in place. I would wake up and look at his fingers to see what he was doing, I learned this song half asleep lol. I love playing this song so god damn much, but at the same time it hurts my whole arm. I don't know why I write the things I do but damn it sounds good. Love being able to give you guys a little backstory for some of the songs we've written. All of our tracks have some story behind it and how all our relationships as friends were growing during that part of Vol1. All 4 of us relate so hard to the way we grew up to the hardships we've encountered in our lives. Love your friends and be nice to each other because we don't ever know what someone is going through.

It's ALL corporate and there's no alternative.

Becoming a Ghost - WITHER//BLOOM - One take playthrough

This right here is one of my favorites to play. Mimo and I wrote this track back in I want to say 2017 in our old band way back then. We hung onto it just for the right time and the right people. I remember how much its changed through the years and finally into one of MY favorite songs. I remember recording bass for the first time and coming up with that little run in the beginning. Then years later bringing it to Matt and Alex, they put their own flavor into it and WB just became stronger. All of vol1 reminds of those times of all 4 of us sitting in Matt's dad house getting to know each other and writing music. What a time and times flies fucking fast, cause I'm living in there rent free b*tch.

Heal Right - WITHER//BLOOM - One take playthrough

It's been a minute. I'll be starting to film playthrough videos of my bands music so y'all can see the 200 in action. It was made by a company in the UK called @newtonestrings. I would not be able to reach the tuning I'm in without it (double drop D#, hitting D#0). A lot of people are afraid of going that low because some say it isn't audible but I'm here to prove them wrong. @wither_mimo started our journey for low tuned music in 2019 and how low we could go. We started in F and progressively tuned lower til we found our favorite tuning D#. It took a few years to get the sound dialed in but with a lot of compression, distortion and an ampeg pedal it was possible and of course learning how to play on such thick strings. If you can pick hard enough, you to can be just like me. 💯💯💯
(The rest of my strings are daddario NYXL)

Starting with Vol1 you will see how much crazier my writing gets, this song was one of the first that we all collaborated on together as a band back in 2020. WB is only getting crazier with each year so keep a lookout for new music in the future. 😘
