It’s a TEAMwork’s work — I just made it pretty and hot 🥵🔥✨😇

I’m learning to be proud of my work (no matter what it is!!!) — so hi!! Your girl here has NEVER really shared her work that much, especially her decade worth of design career… how crazy is that? 😳 I don’t wanna hide anymore! I may be switching careers soon, but I also wanna honor the person I’ve become throughout these many years ☺️

Because what it’ll look like if I’m a ‘Good Daughter’:

💗 No pinks. Pink hair. Pink room. You name it.
💗 I’ll be living the life my mother and grandmother lived.
💗 Always careful not to disappoint anyone
💗 Be silent about her own needs
💗 What are feelings? What is crying?
💗 Digestible, agreeable, manageable... basically have no voice of my own
💗 I’d be a nurse... FK no.
💗 No cats in my life. Nada.
💗 I’d be a boring ass person who is just a copy of my mother
💗 What is fashion sense?
💗 I don’t learn or grow much because everything is taught by mom
💗 No such thing as solo adventures or solo dates because everywhere you go alone is dangerous
💗 The cycle of self-abandonment continues

Being a Good Daughter has only taught me to abandon myself, once I let that go.... I became a villain.

I had to hurt my mother’s feelings to go for art school.

I had to hurt my mother’s pride in order to wear what the fk I want.

I had to disappoint my mother and cause her to worry about me when I resigned from jobs that paid very well (but costed me my mental & emotional health).

I had to rebel LOUDLY in my actions to protect myself from becoming someone I do not want to be, or live the life I do not want to live.

Rebellion was one of the only ways I knew how to protect the parts of myself that wanted to LIVE.

I LOVE a woman who is FULL of herself 🩷
She is her own medicine ✨💕
And an elixir to the world 💞

The Universe flirted with me,
So I flirted back 😝

And my day was magical 🪄
I felt like a 👸🏻 and I felt 💦

I cried later at night, after I gave myself pleasure.
Because despite how my outer world may be crumbling…
I’m very blessed, lucky, and thankful to be alive 🩷
To be FEELING everything.

To the girl I love most,
You are EVERYTHING I’ve been looking for my whole life.
I’m sorry I’ve abandoned you more than I’ve been there for you…
I’m sorry I couldn’t see how much you were crying inside, wanting to be loved and accepted.

The void you feel during the identity shifting phase? Where you don’t really know what to do with yourself and your life? Doesn’t have to be dark and gloomy. Doesn’t have to be hopeless and null.

It doesn’t have to weigh you down or define you either.

The best way to navigate it is to shift your perception 🥰

I’ve always loved writing, I remember blogging relentlessly when I was younger 😂 it was about all sorts of random things on Blogger, as well as Livejournal.

I would share SO passionately, even if there’s no audience or engagements.

Since I discovered @substack, that spark in me has returned… ALIVE again 🔥

That inner creator goddess in me wants to CREATE…. It’s impossible to tame!! 🤩🔥

And so I’ve been writing there every week, connecting with like-minded people especially women. Women who are reinventing themselves in their 30s-40s like myself.

I feel so empowered and inspired by the amount of people who are on a similar path. And are sharing their experiences, stories, wisdom, walk at the parks with their dogs, sipping matcha latte on a random Tuesday afternoon, and exchanging compliments with a tree lol :)

Plus… the algorithm is so different compared to social media. It’s based on connections ✨ how fascinating is that?!
