At the Tbilisi History Museum, within the exhibition “EZOLOGIA: Porous Fabric of Tbilisi,” you will find our exposition “[UN]COMMON THREADS: Reclaiming the Imagination of the City.” By imagining alternative futures, it questions the scenarios imposed by systems of power.

The exposition links the speculative stories created during our workshop with research into Tbilisi’s photographic archives and poems written about the city. During the workshop, we did not use these photographs and poems to imagine alternative futures. Even so, the beings, relations, and plots of the speculative stories echo them in unplanned ways. The city’s inhabitants travel from nineteenth-century photo fragments to twentieth- and twenty-first-century poems and texts written in 2025.

It invites us to notice the city’s overlooked actors and to weave stories with them about the porous body of Tbilisi.

On view until 20 October at the Tbilisi History Museum; Address: 8 Sioni Street. taken in თბილისის ისტორიის მუზეუმი - ქარვასლა/Tbilisi History Museum - Karvasla by @withnessing

Founded by Tatuli Japoshvili (@moreinvisible) and Giga Tsikarishvili (@giga_tsikarishvili), @withnessing is a platform for transdisciplinary artistic research that nurtures cultural, social, and environmental ecologies to reinvent new ways of co-existing. With an open collaborative framework, it aims to incorporate perspectives concerned with expanding the concepts of subjectivity, aesthetics, and ethics at the intersections between art, architecture, and design.

Since the begining of the research project “Ezologia — Porous Body of Tbilisi”, the platform has been one of its collaborators. The exhibition, which is the first public presentation of the project, features the workshop outcomes, archival and literary research by wit[h]nessing.

If you haven’t seen the exhibition yet, visit the Tbilisi History Museum (Sioni Street 8) through October 20, 2026.

Some of these images are thousands of years old. Some are from last season.

The Two Women Atlas is an experiment. It is a collection I have been building for years—two women together across painting, sculpture, photography, film, fashion, and music—and a place to think about it out loud.

Sisters, friends, lovers, mother and daughter: the image rarely decides, and art history has rarely asked.

Expect close readings, images left to speak for themselves, conversations with artists and researchers, and upcoming collaborative workshops.

Welcome to the Atlas.

A motif can be everywhere and still go unnamed for centuries. Swipe for how I (Tatuli Japoshvili, @moreinvisible) define it, and why it matters.

What happens when we stop looking at a woman alone, and start looking at two women together?

Welcome to the Two Women Atlas.

Art history has much to say about the woman on her own—the muse, the nude, the object of the gaze, and about three women—the Graces. About two women, it says surprisingly little. Yet across centuries of painting, photography, fashion, and film, the motif returns with compulsive persistence: two women side by side, intertwined, mirroring, whispering, or simply co-existing. Sisters? Friends? Lovers? Mother and daughter? The image rarely tells us.

I read this recurrence as a symptom: a gesture that keeps coming back because what it holds has not yet found words. It hides in plain sight.

For the past twelve years, I have been collecting these images to understand what they tell us about being two: a self that is shaped in-between subjects, not in isolation.

Following Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas, the images collate on black, without titles or hierarchy, so the patterns between them can surface.

The Atlas will unfold slowly: close readings, found images, the motif’s echoes in other cultural artefacts, and conversations with guests. If there is an image of two women you keep returning to, whether discovered, inherited from a family album, or made by you, send it to me.

As per our initiative, the Mtkvari River has joined the Confluence of European Water Bodies (@waterbodies.eu).

The Confluence is an alliance of rivers, lakes, lagoons, seas, and glaciers. Founded in 2023 in Brussels, it works to internationally recognise and establish legal, cultural, and political agency for water ecosystems.

Among 58 water bodies across 18 countries, the Mtkvari is the sole representative from Georgia.

Stretching 1,515 km, it is the vital artery of the South Caucasus. Soviet functionalist planning and post-Soviet extractivist approaches: uncoordinated hydropower construction, uncontrolled sand and gravel extraction for trade corridors, and severance from natural floodplains, have critically damaged the Mtkvari’s ecosystem.

Joining the Confluence grounds the Mtkvari’s struggle in today’s acute, shared water crises, opening discussion on its cultural and political agency.

Special thanks to @thomaslaurien for the recommendation.

‘Resistance begins by interrupting the rush toward answers long enough for stillness, grief, and trouble to be present.’ — Moniek Driesse💧

We are thrilled to share this profound conversation between @giga_tsikarishvili and researcher @moniekdriesse—founder of The Imaginary Agency, and fellow at the Antwerp Cultural Heritage Sciences research group (University of Antwerp).

Originally published by @design_and_posthumanism, this dialogue weaves connections between the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico and the Mtkvari River in Georgia.

Rooted in critical heritage studies and ecofeminism, Moniek’s practice explores how water carries imaginations and connects lifeworlds. Together, Giga and Moniek discuss the violent friction of infrastructure projects that use “history” as an alibi for extraction—from the “Silk Road” to the “Maya Train”—and ask a crucial question: What does design look like when it refuses the urge to “solve,” and instead becomes a tool of resistance and radical care?

From the necessity of unlearning Eurocentric paradigms to viewing water as a mnemonic ally, this conversation is a beautiful meditation on vulnerability, porousness, and learning to inhabit a “world of many worlds.”

The archive is a magical place where time layers never intersect by coincidence. Rediscovering Andro Chiaureli’s 1989 documentary The Wound while researching Chiatura’s eco-socio-affective landscape was one such guiding sign for our inquiry.

Soviet cinema framed Chiatura’s manganese mining through propaganda. The Wound shatters this, juxtaposing cold official denials of socio-ecological damage with unheard local voices and the city’s unembellished reality. It lays bare an open wound of Soviet modernism that, 37 years later, still bleeds.

In collaboration with the director and Giorgi Kakabadze, Director of the Central Archive of Audio-Visual Documents, we digitised the original film roll, laying the foundation for a dedicated Andro Chiaureli Fonds at the @nationalarchivesgeorgia.

Watching The Wound today is haunting; the 1989 officials’ rhetoric, masking socio-ecological damage with false promises, perfectly mirrors our reality today.

Watch the film via the link in our bio. The first public screening was held at @designinstitute_ during the @dineba_archive exhibition.
