Men! I am directing this post to you! Looking for some real, actionable answers to address and channel your outrage??? Not outraged? What the fuck is wrong with you? After first taking ownership of this social pandemic from within your peer group, check out this book by Dr. Jackson Katz! You can buy physical copies or a file for your e-reader or an audiobook. Then, to get your brain engaged please watch his 2013 TEDtalk. We men need to understand and work on how we socialize one another, across all age groups and generations, into the multiple forms of misogyny and sexual violence against Women and Queer folx. Consider this your fundamental responsibility. Period. Children and Youth all around you are watching. They learn by example. They also need to be taught not just what is right and wrong, but, how and why. Your partners, co-workers, friends and family are all watching and listening, too. There is no sweeping it under the rug. This is beyond a crisis. It always has been. Well before any of us were born. But, it is our responsibility to do something about it! After over 30 years, I finally got to see one of the most important, foundational and inspirational bands in my life: @qsnyc Seeing Quicksand at the Park Theatre with all of my former bandmates from @burnthe8track and Warsaw made it feel like time travelling back to every rehearsal and show we played. The threads of heaviness, angular and dissonant guitar melodies, head snapping grooves, and soaring vocals were well worth the wait! These trademark elements have continued to inspire countless bands and define decades of heavy music. Their songs are the roadmap we all follow. I also haven’t seen so many smiles at a show in a long time! It was great catching up with so many friends, too! 🤘🤘🤘🤘@fuckedup played a Damian-less set and felt more meditative than I remember them being the last time I saw them at the Royal Albert🤘🤘 I had never seen or heard of @worlds_worst until last night, but, they ruled, kicking out their post-hardcore jams to a room full of fresh ears! 🤘🤘#quicksand #fuckedup #worldsworst #posthardcore taken in The Park Theatre by @wizardofosland

Man. This loss hits pretty hard. Im in total shock… I walk/bike/drive by this very Winnipeg sign on the regular and ALWAYS think of my good friend @chrissuds every time. Every damn time. I will forever, now. Chris helped me know and work for some of the most important people in my life. And I will be forever grateful to him for his generosity. I remember as a kid, Chris came over to my Dad’s place to take a lesson or two, and my Dad saying “That is the next great Winnipeg drummer…” He wasn’t wrong! The last time I saw Chris and Tina was in Chicago. My Ex and I happened to be there on vacation when they were doing a run of Some Like It Hot! there. They invited us to the show and it was amazing! I am not a musical theatre person. But, they changed that for me! That night, Tina was subbing in as Musical Director. You should’ve seen how proud Chris was of her!!! We all went for late nite Vegan Mexican Food afterwards and chatted the night away. ♥️ My thoughts in this painful and terrible time are with @christinamfaye , his family, and everyone that loved him, and the many that played with him. Last Night’s Show: @deeppurple_official with @kansasband and @jeffersonstarship in Winnipeg! Not often I get to go see a rad show with two of my best pals @achornondrums and @imintocds ! Extra Special Thanks to one of my bosses welshietouring for taking such great care of us! We Three Stooges are still walking on Cloud 9 after getting to meet Deep Purple’s LEGENDARY keyboardist Don Airey, who was surprised that we caught his quoting two Winnipeg acts in his solos, American Woman by The Guzoos and Neil Young’s A Man Needs a Maid (sorry no pix); and Roger Glover, DP’s Master of Bass, who may be the funniest dude you’ll ever meet! Hats off to Deep Purple! Out there kicking ass in their, gulp, 80s! Proving that if you rock hard enough, and have a blast doing it, you’re gonna live forever! They were a lean, mean Rock’N’Roll machine last night! Ian Gillian sounded amazing, and was very charming while telling some of my new all-time favourite non sequitur stage banter! Two nights ago, I did an Overnight Sleep Study for the first time in almost 10 years, with almost six of those years just waiting for it to happen. Who knows what impact this has had in my overall health? Or on my recovery and rehabilitation post-heart attacks? Or, on the impact of the tissue death my heart expected because of those heart attacks, as it is 50% dead (but it’s also 50% ALIVE, y’all!!! 🫀🫀🫀) Look at these pix and read the “Injury Report” to hear about my impressions. I do want to thank the Sleep Disorder Centre and their very hardworking and expert staff for their care! If you find my story challenging, imagine working there… As outrageous these conditions are to read about here, know that my Sleep Doc, who is also the Director of the Sleep Disorder Centre, has to resign in protest regularly to highlight the conditions for patients in this sleep health pandemic and how much funding they need to expand the Centre and its capacities in addressing this health pandemic. We are grossly underfunded and under-facilitated as a health demographic.
