The Wizards are trading Monte Morris to the Pistons for a future 2027 2nd round pick, per Shams. Morris was acquired by the Wiz last summer and spends just 1 season here in DC. He stepped into a bigger role as the starting point guard, however it was clear he was just a stopgap and better suited as a backup. He did a fine job given the circumstances and was always a class act here. Wishing him the best as he goes back home to Detroit! This clears a logjam at the point guard position for Washington and also creates a $9.8M trade exception as that’s what Morris was due to make in his final year of his contract. by @wizardsnations

The Wizards are re-signing Kyle Kuzma to a 4-year, $102M deal, per Shams. I’m glad to have Kuz back after it was widely expected that he would leave DC. He had a career year with the Wiz and was a great vet in the locker room. The money is a little bit more than I expected, but I still think it’s a fair deal for both sides as Kuzma’s contract is very tradeable if the Wizards take that route later down the road. It definitely beats losing Kuz for nothing. by @wizardsnations

Washington trades up and selects Bilal Coulibaly out of France! The Wizards sent 2 second round picks to the Pacers to move up from 8 to 7. Bilal is a super athletic 6’6” wing with excellent on and off ball defense, however his offense is fairly raw. He is only 18 and will be a project player in the beginning of the Wizards rebuild. by @wizardsnations

The Wizards are trading Chris Paul for Jordan Poole, Ryan Rollins, a protected 2030 1st round pick and a 2027 2nd round pick, per Woj.
ITSSSSSS A POOLE PARTY! Big move by Winger and Dawkins! Getting a young guy with upside for 38 year old CP3 is a fleece right off the bat 🔥 picks made it even better! Love the deal.
Jordan Poole has 4 years left on his 4 year/$128 million contract and had a down season (you can all guess why *cough* Draymond), however he can regain his confidence here in DC by leading the way in the rebuild. He’s a great scorer capable of putting up 20 points per game and I think he’s going to bounce back in DC. by @wizardsnations

ICYMI: The Wizards managed to make a new trade near the buzzer last night, sending Kristaps Porzingis to Boston and getting the Grizzlies involved as the 3rd team. Here are the full trade details:

I would’ve loved to get a 1st in this deal, but in the end I’m satisfied with this trade. The Wizards faced an unexpected encounter of the risk of losing KP for nothing after the initial deal with the Celtics and Clippers fell off. He had until midnight to accept his player option and could’ve easily declined it and entered free agency. Fortunately with just 10 minutes to spare, the Wizards struck a deal with the Celtics and got a new third team, the Grizzlies, to finalize the trade. Tyus Jones is a really underrated pickup and stepped in big time for Memphis last season when Morant was out. Jones can be a valuable trade chip for the Wizards to flip by the 2024 trade deadline. I don’t think moving from acquiring the 30th pick to the 35th pick is a big deal, considering this is a deep class and Tyus Jones is much better than Marcus Morris. The Wizards now have 4 point guards (Paul, Morris, Wright, Jones) so there should be more moves coming for additional draft compensation. Shoutout to Michael Winger and crew for getting this done instead of losing Porzingis for nothing. This trade is a win in my books. by @wizardsnations

The Washington Wizards are finalizing a trade to send All-Star G Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, a handful of second-round picks, and multiple pick swaps, per Shams.
Right off the bat, I don’t like this deal at all. Washington clears up a ton of space by getting his contract off the books but getting no 1sts is a huge L. There were plenty of rumors of Miami offering their 18th pick in a package and I would’ve loved to take that instead. At the same time, giving Beal a no trade clause really killed the Wizards in the end. UPDATE: Beal picked the Suns over the Heat, Bucks, and Kings, so the Wizards really didn’t have much of a choice for this weak package.
This officially marks the first step of a full rebuild for the franchise. Buckle up. by @wizardsnations

The Wizards are in serious talks with two finalists - the Suns and the Heat - on a Bradley Beal trade, per Shams. The Beal era is coming close to an end as Michael Winger and company work on making their first big move. by @wizardsnations

Shocker: The Wizards have fired GM and team president Tommy Sheppard, per Woj. This is big news and a much needed move for the franchise. I almost feel as good as when Ernie got fired. Tommy Sheppard did a fantastic job of getting out of bad contracts (Westbrook, Bertans) and making trades, however he also gave out some bad contracts and did a terrible job at drafting. Now hopefully the Wizards can look for someone out of house that has a new vision for the franchise. This changes a ton for the Wizards upcoming offseason and a lot of people’s futures could be in doubt depending on the outside GM hire, especially head coach Wes Unseld Jr. by @wizardsnations

They should both be dealt by the trade deadline, but the Wizards continue to do the exact opposite of what’s logical because of their goal to stay mediocre for years to come. by @wizardsnations

The Wizards are nearing a deal to trade Rui Hachimura to the Lakers for Kendrick Nunn and three 2nd round picks, per Shams. Deal is expected to be completed this afternoon.
Not a fan of this deal at all, especially considering the fact that this front office is atrocious at finding gems in the draft. Basically gave up Rui for a bag of chips.
I’m going to miss Rui. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Wizards would deal him especially with the leap of Kyle Kuzma, however Rui is yet another example of how Wizards mismanage young talent. He never seemed to vibe with head coach Wes Unseld Jr. yet showed lots of flashes, especially in his recent game where he dropped 30 off the bench. I’ll always be a fan of Rui and hope he shines in LA.
This also provides further indication that the Wizards top priority is to sign Kyle Kuzma to a long term deal who is having a career year. Let’s see what happens this summer with that situation. I’m still on the trade Kuzma train. by @wizardsnations

Kyle Kuzma says he does not expect to sign an extension with the Wizards and plans to decline his player option to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming summer, per Washington Post. There’s also been a report that Kuzma wants over $20m and is looking to play in a big market (contender) (Eric Pincus). He will get paid a lot this off-season, but will it be by the Wizards?
I love Kuz, but I think it’s optimal to trade him and get some good value as he’s playing the best he ever has in his career. I’m also getting the vibe that he wants to play for a good relevant team, which is something I don’t expect to see with the Wizards anytime soon. by @wizardsnations

Game 6 winner against Boston, behind the back poster dunk in Atlanta, all of his 360 layups, doing the dougie in his NBA debut, I can go all day!
John Wall, who now plays for the Clippers, will play in front of Wizards fans tonight for the first time he was traded in 2020! I expect a packed stadium and the loudest cheers when his name gets announced. Miss you so much @johnwall 🥲 by @wizardsnations
