Hey all, come join us for a virtual panel discussion where students from University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Conestoga College will discuss experiences of queer student life on their campuses, and a representative from the recruitment team at McMaster University will discuss the process of getting to post-secondary education. If you know anyone interested in post-secondary education and who identifies as queer or is concerned about 2SLGBTQ+ issues, come watch this panel with myself and colleagues from Conestoga and UW. TIME CHANGE NOTICE: The ID clinic has been extended due to high demand but hours have changed. We will be available from 9-12 and 1-4 on March 28.

On March 28, we are partnering with @wrlegalservices to host a free ID clinic!

Whether you are just thinking about making a legal name change and/or gender marker change or you are already in the process of completing the forms, this ID clinic is an opportunity for you to speak directly with our paralegal, ask questions, and receive assistance in completing the application forms.

This space is open to Laurier students and Waterloo Region community members.

Register in advance to reserve a spot on March 28 or drop in anytime that day between 9 am to 12 pm and 1pm to 4 pm at the Rainbow Centre. We suggest arriving at least 30 minutes before our closing times.

Apologies for being late! Here's the second post for Aro-spec Awareness Week discussing Microlabels and Aromanticism. The forward in this post has been written by an anonymous member of our community, giving a perspective on microlabels. The last page gives some helpful links for more reading, but be aware that they are community sites that anyone can edit. Your experiences are the most valid to you and if you believe a microlabel fits you better than an umbrella term, no one can tell you that you are wrong to identify by it. Sexuality, gender, and romantic orientation can be fluid and change as you learn more or change yourself. Never be afraid to reach out to community or friends to ask. RC Leader Kiefer is always happy to answer questions about his Aromantic journey and to help others on theirs. A spoken word piece performed by Emyll Tait (It/It's, They/Them) at Monday's Trans Vigil in the Hawk's Nest. Emyll is a student at Laurier, majoring in Ancient Studies and English in the Creative Writing Concentration. It is queer in both gender and sexuality and is one of the co-presidents of the Laurier Creative Writing Society. by @wlurainbow

*TRIGGER WARNING*

On November 20th is the Trans Day of Remembrance.

On November 21st the RC will be holding a trans vigil in the Hawks Nest at 9am. This will be to honour the lives of those who were murdered as a result of hate crimes and transphobia.

Here are some statistics collected from recent years showing the rates and impacts of violence on those who identified as being in the transgender community.

The Glow Centre of the University of Waterloo and the Rainbow Centre of Wilfrid Laurier University are collaboratively hosting a Trivia Drag Show!

Enjoy fabulous performances by members of the UW Drag Club (@uwdragclub)!

The registration link is in our bio and in our stories! Registration is free, however, if you’d like to show your appreciation towards the performers, we have ticket options of:

The performers can also accept any cash tips you’d like to provide during the event!

For WLU students: There will be two groups leaving from the Rainbow Centre at 7:10PM and 7:30PM that you can join to get to the venue and help you meet some people to hang out with at the show! Come join us!

Hey All, we're holding a Drag Show this Friday in partnership with UW's Glow Centre and the UW Drag Club. And the best part of it, ITS FREE! We'll be having fantastic performances from Drag Club members, refreshments, and 2SLGBTQ+ trivia inbetween performance sets. It's this Friday between 8 and 10 pm. Visit our Linktree to find the link to grab your tickets. There is also the option to purchase your ticket for $5 or $10, with all proceeds going to both of our respective centres. We also encourage you to bring cash to tip our wonderful performers, but we understand if that's not possible for you. For Laurier students who aren't familiar with UW, we will have two groups leaving from the Rainbow Centre, at both 7:10 and 7:30 that can help you get there and help you meet some people to hang out with at the show! Purpose:

The Rainbow Centre in Waterloo is a safer space on campus available to all students, faculty, staff, administrators and visitors who are 2SLGBTQ+ identified, queer-friendly or allies. We offer a space to house resources, hold meetings, and, most importantly, provide the opportunity to engage in discourse in an open and positive environment.
Come by the Rainbow Centre if you’re looking for peer support or connection to other resources. Additionally you may study, hang out, and chat with others.
All students are welcome to any of our office hours, regardless of enrolment.
